Square Enix's upcoming sandbox title, Sleeping Dogs
, is almost
here! The game is set to leave some serious impressions on gamers once it hits the shelves and so far, the various trailers
, and dev diaries
have been a pleasure to watch. Despite how good the game might be once it's released, Square Enix will want to keep the fans itching for more with upcoming DLC.
Square Enix's General Manager of the dev's London Studios, Lee Singleton, revealed a few details on upcoming DLC plans for Sleeping Dogs
:SLEEPING DOGS is a game we know fans will want to keep on playing, so over the next six months we’ll be creating a series of new content packs giving players everything they need to keep enjoying the game. We want to create something to suit everyone’s play style from cool cars and high-speed missions to outlandish outfits and game-extending mission packs. The game launch is just the beginning.
Speaking of the game's launch, DLC will be available on day one. The 80s-inspired "Retro Triad Pack" will aid players in getting "ahead of the game", as this includes a killer old school outfit "with its own player buffs", and a kung-fu van. I'm not sure how the outfit will help players get ahead of the game, but maybe the kung-fu van comes packed with seven ninjas in the back?
From September onwards, there will be more DLC gradually released with a high-speed "Racing Pack and an explosive SWAT Pack" starting off the slow flood. We will keep you guys posted on all the details and dates of the future DLC packs as they come.
Alongside the reveal of the secret plan to keep players grounded in Hong Kong, three new trailers have been released for eager players to get their last doses of Sleeping Dogs
media goodness. The first two trailers cover loyalty and honor, two things fans can expect to see a lot of once we dive into the game. With the first trailer, loyalty is tested in various ways as Wei Shen goes undercover and needs to become loyal with the enemy. Could his 'fake' loyalty be exposed or is his true loyalty going to end up getting him killed?
Wei's life will be constantly at stake as the Triads take honor very seriously. With the second trailer focusing on Triad Honor, Wei could end up on the tasty end of a meat cleaver if they find out his loyalty is not all it appears to be:
The third trailer is the recent TV spot for Sleeping Dogs
. Officers of the Law are being reminded of how boring their work can be with "90% of the job being paperwork" and so many rules and regulations to follow. When it comes to the undercover side of the job, the rules are just a little different:
will be ready to roll out on August 14th for North America, and August 17th for Europe and other PAL territiories.
