Learn How to Play Bass in Rocksmith

Learn How to Play Bass in Rocksmith

The game expands... to four strings

Written by punkyliar on 14 August 12 at 15:52

Rarely do game releases of any sort get brought forward. The "Learn to Play Bass Guitar" DLC for Rocksmith is an exception to this rule, having been released three weeks earlier than initially planned. Not content with being individual in that way, the DLC also marks a rare return to normality with its additional achievements -- we have ten new achievements worth a round total of 250G.

Download the Bass Expansion now to start learning to play the Bass today! Bass arrangements have been added to all of the supported in-game tracks and previously released DLC tracks. Not only can you play the bass parts of songs, bassists of all experience levels can also improve their skills with new dedicated bass technique challenges, tutorial videos and mini-games. If you don’t own a bass yet, you can still start now. The Rocksmith Bass Expansion allows you to use any 6-string guitar to emulate a 4-string bass. Tracking your learning is easy too, as bass progression is tracked separately from guitar progression. As if that wasn’t enough, we’ve also added brand new bass gear and authentic tones accessible in the AMP menu. Download the Bass Expansion today and start your new journey.

A very detailed FAQ can be found here if you need it.

The DLC is also supposed to bring in the version 1.03 update for the game. We're unable to find a list of fixes and gameplay improvements that the patch covers, but the game will ask for the update when you next start it from the dashboard.

The "Rocksmith™ - Bass Expansion" DLC costs 2400 MSP and can be downloaded from here. Needless to say, this DLC is restricted to North America at the moment.

It does seem like a high price but when you consider you're getting bass arrangements for over 50 existing songs it's almost like you're getting a whole new game at a reduced cost. I plan to get this but it will have to wait until probably October.

That $30.00 is well worth it, As not only do you unlock bass arrangements for all of the original on-disc songs, but also any DLC songs you may have as well. One bass lesson would cost around that much. You want to talk about overpriced for what you get, let's discuss Minecraft and Spelunky. Lol.

Lol.Yeah but the problem is with the actual game, it really doesnt teach you guitar it tells you how to learn helpful techniques but nothing really much after that and 30$ is complete crap for a dlc like this where you can buy the game with it when it comes out is a slap in the face and im not paying that much for it id pay 15 tops

Of course it will not teach you music theory, but what it will do is get you used to actually handling the guitar, build muscle memory, give you a fun reason to practice, help train your ear, teach you to read tablature, etc... It's not meant to be a teacher, but a supplement. You will actually learn how to play over 50 songs that are already out, plus any future DLC. I don't find it to be a rip-off at all.

Just like any other game Rocksmith has dropped in price after having been out a while. I usually see it go for around $30.00 nowadays. When the new Bass-on-disc version comes out, the price will go back up. I guarantee it.

Honestly, I own this game and think that 2400 points is just SLIGHTLY high. I would prob but it at 1800-2000 points. Like someone said eariler, you are basically getting another new game mode with all your existing songs.

I'm wondering, if anyone know, can all bass achievement be unlocked using the guitar on bass emulation? I'm especially worried about the 2 bass technique cheevos.

I'm almost 100% sure that they can, as it gives you a choice between bass/ emulation. I think the game treats them equally.

I played for about 8 hours both Tuesday and Wednesday. I know guys who practice that much regularly. I'm not that dedicated but wanted to get this done. It took extra time to unlock all the gear since I didn't have the DLC pack which unlocks it for you.
