EA, go ahead and let me know when you make an NHL game that doesn't require in-game purchases, extensive online play, or championships that will go unsupported less than a year after release.
Love the NHL series but I just don't enjoy the hassles and won't buy again until it's a free-standing game I can just play in career mode at my leisure. |

b) Usually it's about two iterations of NHL games before servers go down. For example, NHL 11 is still running with NHL 13 around the corner. Two years minimum, not less than a year. |
But if the silence takes you, then I hope it takes me too. |

You can play Be A GM and Be A Pro to your hearts content. Could still play NHL 07 if you wanted. |

HUT in NHL 11 is down?
EDIT: Oh, EA didn't fix the glitch. Thankfully HUT isn't "career mode", eh? |
But if the silence takes you, then I hope it takes me too. |

Dreakon1313 said:EDIT: Oh, EA didn't fix the glitch. Thankfully HUT isn't "career mode", eh?Since I apparently have to spell this out: I play games for achievements. That's how I enjoy myself. NHL games have a ton of online achievements in functionality that EA barely supports once the launch and early adopter monetization runs out.
I can go play some ancient NHL game on the PS2 if I want a career mode. But I rather like the gameplay in recent NHL releases. I play in part for points, and I'm not going to gamble that I'll end up with a few hundred unobtainable points on my card.
EA's not weeping over me, and I'm not weeping over not playing NHL. But a news story about an upcoming release is entirely the appropriate place for me to complain about that series' rocky recent history. I will do the same in the Tiger 14 news story when it comes around, since Tiger 13 was utterly buggy shit.
This isn't rote server bitchery, which I think is warranted but I agree it gets old.
Is that sufficiently clear? |

Such is the life of someone who plays games for achievements. You are the minority. You knew that when you signed up for it. Suck it up. |

But it starts to become a bad thing when people intend to complain in every article about every game that ever had a developer that didn't fix a glitched achievement for you, as I'm sure you do. |
