UK Deal Roundup for August 28th, 2012

UK Deal Roundup for August 28th, 2012

The best of the UK prices

Written by KeithBGray on 28 August 12 at 12:09

I've changed my gamertag since the most recent Deal Roundup last Tuesday, but there's no such luck with the UK gaming deals. Things are still very slow! Don't despair though, we're edging closer to the all-important Autumn release period.

Shopto can be trusted to bring yet another new promotion this week, inspired by the August bank holiday. Among the other retailers, only Zavvi and TheHut offer up significant new, albeit somewhat identical, promotions.

The recurring sales remain largely unchanged.

You'll need to click on the name of the retailer or the name of the deal to be taken straight to the retailer’s offer page. Clicking on the name of a game will take you to the achievement list. All prices were correct at the time of writing and subject to change at the retailer's discretion.

New Sales:

Game has started an Online Exclusive Clearance. You can boogie your way to a nice TA score in Dance Central for just £9.99.

Shopto has a good mix of Xbox 360 and PC titles available in their new Bank Holiday Blowout promotion.
Alice: Madness Returns - £12.85
Operation Flashpoint: Red River (PC) - £4.85
Dance Central 2 - £18.85
FIFA Street - £17.86
L.A. Noire (Complete Edition) - £14.86
Max Payne 3 - £24.85
NHL 12 - £21.85
SBK Generations - £12.85

Tesco has began a new campaign on Disney games. Unfortunately, Cars 2 at £14.96 is the only reasonably priced title.

Much like Shopto, TheHut has began a Bank Holiday Bargains promotion.
Battlefield 3 - £24.95
Child of Eden - £9.95
LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7 - £14.95 (Enter code KG10 for a further 10% discount)
Transformers: Fall of Cybertron - £34.95
X-Men: Destiny - £9.95

Zavvi has started a new Games from £12.95 promotion. You could simply disregard the promotion heading though, because the prices vary so much.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (Classics) - £14.95
http://www.trueachievements.com/GE-007-Reloaded-xbox-360.htm - £11.95
PowerUp Heroes - £12.95
Tropico 4 - £14.95
Those are just a few of the plethora of games available and most of the deals in this promotion are being matched by sister store, TheHut. Unfortunately, there's no specific sale highlighted there, so you'll have to use TheHut's search function to find titles.

Recurring Sales:

• Amazon’s bargains for Xbox 360 and PC
Amazon and Play are still feeling Brave
ASDA's Big Entertainment Event
Base’s Summer Sale
Base’s mix-and-match offer of 2 games for £25 across different platforms

TheHut’s Kinect promotion

Also, once you get a job you probably won't want your job even though you want the income. Most people I know whom don't have a job want one because they are bored at home and poor. Those who do have a job are always tired after work, stressed while at work and don't earn enough for all the fatigue and stress they have to endure. Take your pick because both are shit and spiritually damaging. Some people are lucky and get cool jobs or decent colleagues, but it's a general rarity.

Originally rented Tropico 4 and have been looking to buy it. Zavvi have consistently been the cheapest place to buy it. Just can't quite bring myself to trust them.

Thoughts on Zavvi anyone?

Zavvi are generally slow on delivery as they're based off-shore in Jersey (tax dodging scum! laugh) usually all their packages have a "searched by customs" sticker on and take around 5 working days to reach you, if you're lucky you'll get the game in 2-3 days (by my experience). I live on the south coast as well, geographically closer to Jersey. So it's possible that it could take longer if you live up north.

I found it tends to be cheaper than everywhere else, but the delivery sucks. when i bought Dirt 3 complete edition took about 8 days for delivery and Tropico 4 was expected to be dispatched "within 28 days" even tho it was in stock, so cancelled the order and went else where.

Thanks for the responses. I'll just have to wait patiently for prices to come down elsewhere, or get lucky on ebay.

Picked up Alice from shopto, can't go wrong for that price at all. Zavvi have some nice stuff but I always have troubles when I order from them, so I'll wait until the stuff goes cheaper elsewhere.

I'm in the same situation as the first poster, so I empathise. The thing is, you have to have money to move away from home to get to university. You don't actually get your student loan until you've been at university for 3 days to a week (assuming Student Finance are moving their butts and have already processed your application and are just awaiting confirmation from the university of your enrolment) and obviously you can't turn up and go through all the freshers bullshit at uni if you don't have nearby accommodation already secured. So you need to fund moving your shit across the country, paying to commute to uni from your new accommodation, paying for food so you don't pass the fuck out and of course there's paying the ridiculous deposit that the shit hole you're moving in to require. Depending on what part of the country you're moving to that's anywhere from £500 - £1000 you need... spare. Parent's who don't save any money for their kids uni fucking suck, I envy the foreign kids who have parents who actually invest in their education.

.... Sorry for going so off topic.
