Make Your House a Home With Skyrim DLC [UPDATE]

Make Your House a Home With Skyrim DLC [UPDATE]

Oh, the crafting you will do

Written by Matrarch on 28 August 12 at 21:38

Update: Eagle-eyed user AxGryndr caught this response by the official Elder Scrolls twitter account confirming that, yes, the "Hearthfire" DLC will have achievements. There are still no details on how many or how much GamerScore they will add, but you'll get a notification from the site once those achievements go live if you have the game tracked!

Original Story
Don't you just love building houses? Everyone loves building houses. Heck, that's why so many people enjoyed The Sims so much back in 'the day'. Fast forward to now and, along with all the other stuff you can do, home-building is a big draw in the incredibly popular XBLA title, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition.

Maybe, when you think of TrueAchievements' Game of the Year for 2011, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, you don't really think of home-building and with good reason - it's not a part of the game... yet. Leave it to the good folks at Bethesda to give you an opportunity to create the home of your dreams, or just a serviceable shelter from the cold, in their upcoming DLC expansion, titled "Hearthfire".

In "Hearthfire" you'll be able to build anything from "a simple one-room cottage to a sprawling compound complete with an armory, alchemy laboratory, stable, garden, and more." The DLC also includes new tools, such as a drafting table and carpenter's workbench, as well as the ability to "transform your house into a home by adopting children."

"Hearthfire" will be released on Tuesday, September 4th, and will cost 400 MSP. There is no word yet as to the inclusion of achievements.

Thanks to all the members of the community who sent this one in!

This looks like the sort of content that would have been fun and added a lot to the game when I did my full playthrough, but now that I'm finished with it, I don't really have any use for this. I'm guessing (and hoping) it won't have any achievements tied to it.

400MSP? Why do I suddenly get the feeling the house building is all this is going to be good for, and most likely will have very few (or no) achievements? If there's decent GS points involved, I'll buy it... if not, I'll pass.

The Sims + Skyrim = Hearthfire

I seen my friends talking about this a while ago on facebook, I checked it out and I think it's pretty cool, definitely the kind of thing that would make me want to buy the game back.
