Splinter Cell: Blacklist Ghost Playthrough

Splinter Cell: Blacklist Ghost Playthrough

The way it should be done? You decide!

Written by KeithBGray on 02 September 12 at 05:21

When Splinter Cell: Blacklist was revealed at E3 earlier this year, Ubisoft decided to show us the all-guns-blazing approach to dealing with enemy guards by utilising the "killing in motion" ability, which builds upon the "mark and execute" system seen in Splinter Cell: Conviction.

More recently, similar footage was revealed at Gamescom 2012.

Many Splinter Cell purists would argue that the footage shown so far seems to defy every rule of combat that Sam Fisher has become famous for. For years, stealth has been Sam's best friend. To answer the request to return Sam to his roots, in terms of combat style, Ubisoft has now released a new video showcasing the same section of pre-alpha gameplay footage. This time around, Sam takes the quiet route and kills just one enemy, as oppose to the double-figured kill count he racked up previously. Community Developer, Zack Cooper provides commentary to guide you through the "Ghost Playthrough".

Sam Fisher will sneak back into our lives in Splinter Cell: Blacklist during Spring 2013.

Still he shouldn't be able to run around mowing people down, I remember how quickly that got you killed in older Splinter Cell games.

Whilst I wish they would go back to the style of the older games, ie more stealthy, less running about like a madman, I still love Splinter Cell. Can't wait for this one :D

You can go with "they should've made different title" thing, maybe they should, maybe not... I like Conviction very much, and I'm not sure it would be that great if it was a different title.

Also I did one playthrough of Conviction the same way this guy did in this video. While it wasn't as realistic as in previous titles it still was very fun!

apparently a large amount of people dont listen they did say plenty of times you could play with quick running kills and kill everyone in sight or go stealth and only kill a select few targets. But hey i guess listening is something that has completely left this world.

I myself like the fact you can choose either way id much rather try out running through killing everyone in fluid motions then sitting and spending 30 minutes or more on a mission.

Just what we need more run and gun games. It seems to be what happened to GR and probably R6 as well I liked that those were unique games where you just didn't rush into things half-cocked. It feels so satisfying in a game when you stealthily take out all the targets without raising any alarms and then moving on to the next part.

I may be completely incorrect in saying this but if I had to pick one way in which you would fail "killing in motion" then it would probably be because you didn't plan your path correctly. Which is totally fair.

Totally with you on this mate. I was talking with me dad today and I was Saying how they keep dumbing down complex games so its just ACTION ACTION ACTION and the story and skill start to have little to do with it. I know being a good shot is kind of a skill but I like doing things tactically so that my brain is challenged by it without using a gun. I do enjoy the odd run and gun game for sure, but there seems to be an over saturation of these games and old franchises just forgetting what made them so great in favour of the run and gun style.

If you want that feeling, go and complete Conviction without mark&execute and shooting on hardest difficulty... It's possible... (there are only a few parts where you actually have to shoot things, as I remember)

Also, I don't understand how this is run&gun style game. To do mark&execute you have to take someone down with hand-to-hand move... You can't just rush and shoot people.

I always play Splinter Cell games using mostly stealth, but its much better to have the option to go guns blazing when you feel like it - should get a lot more people into buying the game rather just the hardcore stealthers

Seriously just because a voice is different does not make the game worse. All that matters is gameplay. They could have mickey mouse voice sam and I would still play this game. It has no effect on the game being good or not. Also Im excited for this game and think it looks great.

How many of you eat at Subway even though they give you more than one option for bread, meats, and cheeses? Have you complained online and whined about how you wont eat there anymore because you have to watch someone buy a sandwich made with a bread other than your preference? I do not understand why a company like Ubisoft is being chastised for giving gamers more than a single option to play through a game-in this case Blacklist. Innovation has to stay current and ahead of the pack in order to keep a franchise alive. I love that Blacklist is innovative with its' killing in motion option. It means sales will draw in a larger fan base and hopefully generate more income. This will allow Ubisoft to create even better Sam Fisher/Splinter Cell titles in years to come. Don't forget you have only yourself to blame if you do not play Blacklist in stealthy fashion. The Devs understand why Splinter Cells core group buys the titles. They also understand why a large portion of the market doesn't.The graphics and game dynamics look amazing. The story looks like it has a solid concept to follow. Who cares how others play the game. Unless, of course, you purchase your games to watch others beat them for you...
