Reckless Racing Ultimate Edition Detailed

By Rebecca Smith, 4 years ago
Reckless Racing is Pixelbite's third game, but is their first to be developed independently. The game was released nearly two years ago and is currently only available for mobile platforms (not Windows Phone); in fact, the sequel was released earlier this year. Now the series is evolving from mobile apps into one of the first 40 titles to come to Windows 8.

2/9/12 Logo is a top-down racing game. Players get to race across a wide range of road and dirt tracks. The career mode takes in 20 tournaments while the Arcade mode offers another 50 challenges. Both of these modes will place players on a leaderboard where they can compare their position with their friends. There are 150 individual and customisable events, including multiplayer events. Players can invite their friends to take part in a variety of multiplayer modes, which includes one on one rally racing or fastest lap challenges. The game's LIVE Tile means that players can easily track their multiplayer invites and results.

The game also includes 24 customisable cars and trucks, from muscle cars to monster trucks and even dune buggies to cope with the snow. All vehicles can be built, tweaked, upgraded and customised as players level up through their career.

The game can be played using the traditional mouse/keyboard combination or through support for the USB Xbox controllers. Tablet players can use touch controls too. Needless to say, as an Xbox game for Windows 8, the game will have achievements.

A trial version of the game will include three tracks for gamers to try out for free. Although only one car will be available, players will have access to the upgrade system.

An exact release date for the game has yet to be revealed, but Windows 8 is due to be released on October 26th. We'll let you know when we find out whether this will be a launch title or whether it will be releasing at a later date.
