Almost a year ago we brought you details
of an XBLA HD remake of the popular 2009, PC, top-down driving game Zombie Driver
. Since then, we heard nothing and had presumed that this particular zombie had received a swift, sharp, blow to the head, before dissolving into vapourware.
Developer EXOR Studios has now revealed that Zombie Driver HD
isn't actually dead, but very much alive (well, undead), and coming to XBLA next month.
EXOR had the following to say about the title:Insane mix of cars, speed, explosions, blood and zombies! Fight through an epic narrative campaign or test yourself in the Slaughter and Blood Race modes. Engage huge bosses, save survivors, drive crazy vehicles such as a bulldozer, fire truck or even a tank and smash everything in your way. Take part in the Blood Race tournament - chase other cars and take them down without mercy on brutal racing tracks. Jump into the Slaughter mode and survive as long as possible on specially crafted arenas.Zombie Driver HD
will include a 31-mission campaign mode, survival modes against endless waves of zombies, and a 'Blood Race' mode with three different race types:
- Race: standard racing, except, you know, with guns...and zombies
- Eliminator: demolition derby style vehicular combat
- Endurance: 'There's a bomb on my car!' Race through checkpoints to extend the ticking timer
There will be 13 vehicles to choose from, including all your standard zombie-squashing fare: a school bus, a fire truck, a bulldozer and a tank. All vehicles will be upgradeable and can have mounted, upgradeable, weapons.
A teaser trailer has also been released, showcasing the carnage of the world after the zombie apocalypse.
We've also been treated to a selection of screenshots featuring all the zombie-smooshing action you could want.Zombie Driver HD
will be released on XBLA on October 17th for 800 MSP. Check out the game's offical site
for more information on the the original game and this HD remake.
