I think this looks so shit. They should just keep metal gear like it always has been a stealth based game.

I do agree it should stay a stealth-based series. Although maybe this game will wow us and maybe it'll change our minds?

They're keeping the Metal Gear Solid games stealth based. Metal Gear Rising is a spin off set in the same world, but with a different style of gameplay.

Whether that's a good thing remains to be seen....

I NuII I said:I think this looks so shit. They should just keep metal gear like it always has been a stealth based game. Why is it bad that this is not stealth? We have Ground Zeroes coming out to continue that tradition, so why is it such a crime to splinter off into a new arena with a new title - RISING.

The Metal Gear Solid name is still intact for purists, and Kojima gets to move in different directions expanding on different characters. I mean, seriously, if you don't want the hack 'n slash, then don't pick it up.

That makes more sense than crying about it on the internet. cry

Between that gap of MGS2 and MGS4, Raiden would not be particularly suited for a stealth game. This gets to be a good push at genre borders without taking away from the main series focus.

At the same time, I wonder how much of it is leftover resentment for Raiden. He was essentially sprung on people in MGS2 expecting Solid Snake and tanked in comparison; can't say I know too many people who liked his character. Even when he got his moments in MGS4, they seemed forced in order to make people hopefully like him a little more.

Short version, I'm still getting this game day one, but at the same time, I'm a bit curious whether it would still be considered "ruining the series" if it took place before MGS1 and featured Gray Fox instead.

This looks great. Yes it may not be that Stealth that we all like, but this is something completely different. I am looking forward for it.

Annoyed MGS fan: "I don't think they should have changed the gameplay and kept it stealthy."

Me: "Isn't 'change' the one thing people bitched and moaned about the call of duty series?"

I know they're both different but come on! Stop your complaining already. The game looks great, the trailer was awesome, and how do any of us know if all stealthiness is taken out of the game? We don't. It seems they're advertising the stuff the way they are in trailers and screen shots to grab a variety of gamers attention. Does anyone want to watch a trailers of someone walking around in a cardboard box or hiding in a locker?

I NuII I said:I think this looks so shit. They should just keep metal gear like it always has been a stealth based game.I agree, and I hope this isn't what is becoming of MGS, but this isn't MGS. It's just Metal Gear... although, the original Metal Gear was not "Solid" and it was based on stealth (as stealthy as you can get with the NES that is lol). I just hope they don't go that route with future Metal Gear games... especially with Raidan. As long as they don't kill off the MGS series and replace it with this, I don't care what they release. I just won't buy it.

Why are people still complaining about stealth in this game? This is a spin-off for one, and if the people complaining bothered to look at the title of the game they would notice it said Metal Gear Rising not Solid.
If you would like a stealthy Metal Gear I believe there are 2 new Metal Gear Solids coming out and at least 5 other Metal Gear Solids already released

I'm pretty sure the original plan was for the timeline to be between MGS 2 and MGS 4, but when the game was cancelled and then turned over to Platinum Games they changed it to after the events of MGS4.

You know cause it was cancelled, then reborn...Canborned! With a Revengeance!
