Starbreeze Reveals Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons

By Michelle Balsan,
If Starbreeze Studios is known for anything, it's the work they've done with first-person shooters such as Syndicate and The Darkness. Today, they've announced they are currently developing Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons, which looks to be quite a departure from what we know them for.

Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons is about a pair of as-yet-unnamed young men who set out on a quest to find the "Water of Life" in an effort to save their ailing father. The brothers have complimentary skills - where one is weak, the other is strong, where one might move slowly, the other can dash about - and you will need to take advantage of the strengths they have in order to acquire the Water of Life. Though details are scarce at the moment, it seems the gameplay in Brothers will resemble Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, in that utilizing both characters is necessary to your success.

Here's an early look at the title, in the form of screens and a brief trailer:

Brothers represents a partnership between Starbreeze, 505 Games, and filmmaker Josef Fares (Zozo, Leo). Fares took a moment to share his vision on the title
When I first visualised Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons I knew I wanted to combine the deep, engrossing storyline of a film with the physical experience of a video game, allowing players to emotionally connect with the characters as they trek across sweeping, interactive environments such as peaceful vistas, foreboding forests and dangerous mountainsides. I chose to partner with Starbreeze and 505 Games to make my vision a reality and am confident that together we are creating an amazing and unique experience for gamers.
Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons will be released on XBLA in the Spring of 2013.
