At this year's Eurogamer Expo, developer Just Add Water's CEO Stewart Gilray exclusively revealed a gameplay video of their upcoming HD remake of the Playstation One classic, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
. No, you haven't stepped into the rabbit hole and no, we haven't begun to cover Playstation exclusives here on your favourite Xbox website: the reveal also came with the news that the title would be coming to our very own XBLA.
The remake, entitled Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee – New ‘n’ Tasty
, is more than just a new lick of High Definition paint slapped onto the original game. The environments will be fully rendered in 3D and levels will be redesigned to make the most of modern technology. Sounds and voices will also be rerecorded and will apparently include some 'surprises'.
Lorne Lanning, founder and co-owner of the original game's developer, Oddworld Inhabitants, had the following to say about the news:
Oddworld Inhabitants is always overwhelmed by the fan dedication to Abe and the games and hope to keep them involved in the creative process for future games. We are all excited about giving a new generation of gamers the opportunity to play Abe’s Oddysee the way they deserve.
If the news wasn't exciting enough for you, we've also got some screens of the game to show off:
Don't get yourself ready to take on Molluck the Glukkon and help Big Face rescue your fellow Mudokons just yet, however, as Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee – New ‘n’ Tasty
isn't due for release until Q4 2013. For more information, as the title progresses, keep your eye right here on TA.
