Tropico 4 Gold Edition Arriving Next Month

Viva El Presidente!

Kalypso Media has announced that everything that El Presidente touches will turn to gold from next month. The Gold Edition of Tropico 4 will include the main game, as well as the title's only DLC expansion, "Modern Times".

T4_Gold_Packshot

If you're unfamiliar with the Tropico franchise, then here's a brief summary of what the newest title entails:
As the president of a tiny Caribbean island, it’s up to you to lead your country to greatness! Will you be a benevolent and tolerant leader, or a power-mad dictator? Will your economy rely on tourism, farming, big business or cheap sweatshops? The decisions you make will shape the future of your island, and more importantly, the size of your off-shore bank account.
Become the heroic leader, or a despicable despot as your customized El Presidente avatar makes decisions for the good or ill of the people
Two extensive campaigns consisting of more than 30 unique missions including the new “Modern Times” campaign
More than 100 buildings in total, including the stock exchange, shopping mall, aqua park, car factories and shuttle launch pad
Council of Ministers – Elevate citizens to government positions to help push through your more controversial decisions
Sandbox mode for custom games, with improved map and scenario editor for endless replayability
The Tropico 4 Gold Edition is set for release on November 13th. Although the cover image (above) is intended for the special edition's arrival in North America, it is unclear as to whether the Gold Edition will be exclusive to that region. There may still be hope for a European release -- it all depends how nice El Presidente decides to be. Furthermore, no pricing details have been confirmed yet.

Somewhat odd they repackaged the game just for one DLC....

Interested only if the price is right, which for some reason I expect to be higher than it would be if you bought the game and DLC separate.

Really great game! Weird for one dlc that just came out that its got the new edition already. Seems fast, but maybe not for this game. No more dlc then? Dont have the most recent one yet, waiting for it to go on sale maybe.

Alas, I already bought the Steam special edition over the holidays when it went on super sale... I'll probably pick up the Modern Times DLC when that goes on sale, which I'm sure it will do this holiday. The game is great though, very snarky and worth a playthrough... Or 50. In other news, I'm way more excited for Doom BFG Edition.

They probably didn't bother to fix the game-save glitch that causes your game to freeze after trying to load it if your population is above 500. It's also impossible to load any Modern Times game save in Sandbox mode, no matter how low the population is. They've said "there is no problem" ever since Tropico 3. What's the point of a city building game if you can't save your progress?

There's only one major DLC pack (Modern Times) but there are several smaller building packs and costume packs as well that I'm assuming will be packaged in with this, as well.

Pretty much every game gets repackaged at some point after it's release, regardless of it ever having DLC or not. Standard marketing technique to try and get the last remaining sales out of a product.
