Gearbox Reveals Campaign DLC for Borderlands 2

It's not very often that the Associated Press gets gaming news before gaming sites, but this is the case today. According to the AP, everyone's favorite shooting and looting game, Borderlands 2, is going to be getting its first taste of campaign DLC very soon.

Titled "Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty", your favorite vault hunter is going to be heading to a dried up ocean in search of more loot.

The AP is quoting Randy Pitchford with the following:

You can sense the pirate theme across the landscape, even though there's no water. It's all dried up. It feels more like Tatooine than an ocean. These bandits have really embraced the pirate lifestyle, and there's the legend of a treasure. That kicks off this whole adventure that the players can go on.Joystiq has also managed to snag a few screenshots of the DLC and the box art (because digital content needs box art) featuring the eponymous Captain Scarlett.

According to the AP, "Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty" will be dropping on October 16th (hey, that's next week!) and will cost you 800 MSP (or free as part of the Borderlands 2 Season Pass). We'll be sure to keep you updated as more details and developments emerge.

If the rumours are all true, we can expect new vehicles, new customizations, and of course, new guns. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to it!

2 pieces of DLC (the other being the Mechromancer..) before the game's even a month old? Okay.. Please, Gearbox, don't be like the majority of companies nowadays releasing DLC every 5 minutes just because money.

I love this game, why would you complain about DLC so soon? I was happy they gave us the Mechromancer a week early, and this news is even better! I've already paid for my Season Pass so now I can't wait!

I don't own the game (yet), nor a fan of season passes. But since they offer a season pass to allow all the DLC's to be downloaded "free of charge", wouldn't you want them to start releasing DLC sooner rather than later? Or would you prefer they wait 3+ months before releasing content that you technically already paid for?

Season passes equates to content being purposely witheld to be released later. Whether it's deliberate to make more money, or it's still early in the development process and will be released 3-6 months after the game's launch. Pretty much every company does it for more money. Some just do a better job at marketing to hide it better than others.

Not sure why people would complain, regardless of time between the release of the game and its add-ons. If you like this game, you should be excited. If not, you shouldn't. They're jumping on the population so they can get their moneys while the game's hot. Nothing wrong with that. If it's just the price you care about, why does it matter when they release it? It'll still cost the same.

Again: why complain?

Oh, and now I have to go get a Season Pass. Excuse me. =3

And here I was gonna start playing RE6 once I got 100% in Borderlands 2, which would be in a few days. Guess that's not happening until I finish up with this DLC, which leaves me a week until AC III comes out........damn you bountiful amounts of games!
