Fresh out of the Pits and straight into some expert drafting

Written by Dat Boi Treezy on 15 October 12 at 19:03

Eutechnyx are looking to make their upcoming racing title, NASCAR The Game: Inside Line, as authentic and realistic as possible. Several team members from Roush Fenway Racing are helping to make trips to the pit stops quick and life-like with the aid of some sweet technology that you'll get to see in this new dev diary:

Once you're ready to roll out of the pits, it's time to work your way through the ranks by using some precise drafting. In this seven minute trailer, we are schooled on how to become masters at the art of drafting:

NASCAR The Game: Inside Line is set to speed out of the pit stop on November 6th.

Holy shit, as if watching it wasn't boring enough, they have a game for it. I used to think GT was boring as shit, but holy hell, this is like watching paint dry.

Cool to see them even making the pit stops realistic, and using the best teams pit crew for the job :P

I remember ages ago playing a game made by Papyrus called NASCAR Racing. It ran in DOS, that's how long ago this was.

It was mostly ovals, and I remember a favourite circuit of mine being Talladega.

Yes, ovals are simple, but in this game - every oval was different. They have different main straight lengths, different corner cambers etc. Really, it was a game for my father as he used to spend forever tinkering with the car set up.

There is potential for this to be a great racing game. For it to be truly exciting, the field needs to be huge, you need to get a real sensation of speed and driving right on the limits of the vehicle's handing.

Turning left driving round an oval track, only in America. It looks good, but will get boring after you do 150 laps of the same thing.
