Xbox Twitter & Facebook Apps Quietly Removed

Have you received the latest Xbox dashboard update? If so, you may not have noticed that the Twitter and Facebook apps are no longer available from the Xbox LIVE App Marketplace for new users. This is part of Microsoft's encouraging nudging of users in the direction of the Internet Explorer experience.

The Verge are reporting through their source, that the latest dashboard update is currently in a 'pre-release' stage and rolling out to around 3 million consoles worldwide as part of a soak test. It is alleged that a rollout for the Xbox LIVE network en-masse will commence October 23rd.

With that in mind, if you've not yet downloaded the Twitter and Facebook apps, but feel you'd like to retain the option to use them post-update, we would advise you to jump on the App Marketplace and grab them whilst you can.
