NFS: Most Wanted Kinect Integration Interview

In August, EA and Criterion Software highlighted the introduction of the new EasyDrive menu options in upcoming racing title, Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012).

Soon afterwards, in early September, the game's developer went one step further by revealing that the EasyDrive system would also take advantage of Kinect voice commands to limit the need to pause the action. Similarly, Need for Speed: Most Wanted Producer, Chris Roberts, has now taken the time to explain in more detail exactly how and why the variety of voice commands have been added to the title.


There's just under two weeks until Need for Speed: Most Wanted is released, so feel free to get yourself in the mood by checking out the recent, somewhat comical, TV commercial. Need for Speed: Most Wanted races into North America on October 30th, then arrives in Europe on November 2nd.

normally i say no to kinect in the real games.. but if its only voice and it works good, this time i say yes !! seems good, now to try it out when my copy drops in the mailbox in about 1.5/2 weeks :D

Also, the servers for this game will be up for quite a few years, just like the Burnout Paradise servers are still open 4+ years after release.

You can say "Drive car" instead of pressing Y... not really a time saver! Voice controls can be useful like item hotkeys in Skyrim, but this game doesn't look like it got it right.

Although Kinect will be optional... It's the only way the ironically named EasyDrive menu would be manageable. I don't know about anyone else, but I really can't drive and select menu options at the same time, especially when someone is trying to run me off the road!

Look, I don't really mind the whole Kinect thing they are putting in these games, I really don't. Voice commands only, that's nice. I understand Microsoft is trying to make more money and make more functionality for their 'eyetoy'. What I don't like seeing is that it's got EA's name on it, and more likely than not, I expect it to be tied to an achievement...

Not exactly hating on EA, I just don't like their practices, and it's driving me away from gaming. I'm having more fun on a PC game right now than getting on the xbox, and I still have stuff to finish here.
