Chucky: Wanna Play? Cancelled

Chucky: Wanna Play? Cancelled

'We're friends 'til the end, remember?' 'This is the end, friend.'

Written by Chewie (ChewieOnIce) on 06 November 12 at 10:31

Back in May 2011, Indie developers TikGames announced that they would be bringing a game to PC and consoles that featured the star of the Child's Play movies, the gravel-voiced, murderous, 'Good Guy' doll, Chucky.

Chucky: Wanna Play? was to be a gore-soaked adventure, in which you take on the role of the pint-sized psychopath and perform fiendish kills and executions.

Little more was heard from the game until last month, when a Kickstarter campaign was launched by the company to try and raise the $925,000 dollars they felt they needed to produce the PC version of the game, with console versions hopefully following soon after. The Kickstarter page also included some gameplay footage and screenshots for the title.

However, with 19 backers and $585 raised towards the goal, the campaign has now been cancelled. The following was sent out to anyone who had backed the project and also appeared on TikGames' Facebook page:

It is with great sadness that we announce the cancellation of this Kickstarter Campaign. For those who have followed Chucky this last week, you know that pledges have been very slow. We built a fun campaign with lots of great goodies, got the word out to as many people as we could, but sadly not enough people loved the concept of a Chucky video game as much as we did.

Our sincerest thanks go out to all of you who pledged to Chucky and we promise no charges will be made to your credit card for this Kickstarter project.
Whilst it may seem that this is the end of the game featuring his porcelain portrait, as Chucky himself would say:

I'll be back! I ALWAYS come back!... But dying is such a bitch!

might have been good fun...but then again could have been rubbish.....not much backing shows people thought it was a no goer or no one will invest unless guaranteed return

Considering some of the shit I've seen get funding on Kickstarter, the fact this didn't get much at all seems telling...

Doesn't seem like the concept is any worse than some of the stupid games that have been published.

Damn....I'd forgotten all about this. I remember being fairly excited when it was first announced. It obviously wasn't going to be the best game ever, but it had potential to be a lot of fun.

Old horror movie character translated into a current game? No wonder it did not get funded. It's from my generation, and I wouldn't have played it.

So not only do developers want to fleece us with DLC and season passes, they now want us to pay to make the fucking games as well. Seriously, what type of muppet would actually contribute?

Seriously, what type of muppet would actually contribute?Well this was the case with Carmaggedon and the game was released on day one for free. I got it but even without paying or contributing I thought it was very bad.
