Gameplay Draws In for Epic Mickey 2

Oswald the Rabbit is a cartoon character that is unfamiliar to some. When Walt Disney and his chief animator Ub Ibwerks finished work on the Alice Comedies, the pair created Oswald as a character to sell to Universal Studios. Oswald was Universal's first cartoon series that launched in 1927 and remained popular throughout the 1930s. His final cartoon aired in 1943, although the character did make a cameo appearance in a Woody Woodpecker cartoon before permanent retirement in 1951.

Contract issues saw Walt Disney move away from the character in 1928. He created a new character, the now infamous Mickey Mouse, headlining star of Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two. It wasn't until 78 years later that the rights to Oswald the Rabbit were sold to Walt Disney Animation Studios and a further four years before the pair appeared together in Epic Mickey.

Whereas Oswald had a NPC role in Epic Mickey, he's a fully-fledged playable character in Epic Mickey 2. Take a look at this new gameplay trailer that aims to truly show the power of the two.

If the trailer isn't convincing enough, perhaps the demo might be more persuading for North American gamers? The demo can be downloaded from here, although those players in other regions will have to wait for the demo to reach their shores.

Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two is due to be released on November 18th in North America (they don't seem to have realised that this is a Sunday), November 22nd in Australasia and on November 23rd in Europe.
