Hitman: Absolution 'Contracts Mode' Free for All

By Chewie, 4 years ago
In August we brought you the news that a multiplayer mode would be making its way into the upcoming assassin sequel, Hitman: Absolution, for the first time in the franchise's history. This unique multiplayer mode, known as 'Contracts', allows players to create and share customisable assassin challenges, choosing targets, levels, load-outs and other variables to challenge their friends. The announcement news was then followed by a trailer, dev diary and gameplay video, all detailing the possibilites of the mode.

Contracts was originally intended to be part of an 'Online Pass' style scheme where new players of the game would get an in-box single-use code to activate the mode, whereas subsequent players would have to purchase access to the mode. However, in a new entry on the title's official blog, the makers of the game have now revealed the decision to keep Contracts free for all players.

Here's the official statement:

We’re so excited that Hitman: Absolution is launching next week! In particular, we’re looking forward to all of the amazing ways players can challenge each other in the innovative CONTRACTS mode – where you get to call the shots.

We’d actually planned to have this mode accessible via a code in the game’s box, but we really want to make it available to anybody that plays the game – so we want to take a new approach.

If you’re in North America you’ll see the mode automatically appear in the game menu. If you’re elsewhere, you can redeem the code inside the box, or you can simply select the BUY CONTRACTS PASS option. From there, head to the store where CONTRACTS will be free to access.

The only thing you need to worry about then is just how challenging your CONTRACT will be. See you online!
Hitman: Absolution is released worldwide tomorrow, November 20th.
