Begin Your Training With Kung Fu Superstar

Kick, punch, it's all in the mind... wait, not at all. You actually do kick and punch!

Written by Matrarch on 21 November 12 at 01:36

Recently, we alerted you to the fact that Kinesthetic Games' Kung Fu Superstar was in jeopardy of not seeing release due to funding issues. In order to avoid that eventuality, they've started to release a series of videos about the game's development in the hopes that people will be motivated to chip in some cash via a Kickstarter to get the game off the ground.

In the first video, we saw how the game will take advantage of the Kinect sensor (though one is not required to play the game). Today's video covers the "concept of personal development through entertainment."

Kung Fu Superstar, understandably, has no set window for release.

I have yet to play a Kinect title that has accurate enough tracking to play without any issues at all, so why would I trust it to teach me martial arts, where if I don't do it right I could seriously injure myself.. This is a bad idea, perhaps a lack of investors might be a hint at that...

Looks like it might be interesting, depends on the price tag whether I'll get it. Kudos on the Parappa reference. Didn't think anyone remembered that gem.

This is a bad idea, perhaps a lack of investors might be a hint at that...... The martial arts are very safe to practice by yourself, you have a higher chance to crash with your car whilst going to your recreational martial arts practice than to injure yourself there.

If you decide to play some soccer or American football on the other hand, is a lot less safe, they are in the top most dangerous sports you can practice for fun.

Please don't scare people with injuries when there is no basis for it.
Especially when stating this may negatively influence the prospect of this game.

BTW: if you want to help start this project here is the link to the kick starter page, they have nice bonuses for a lot of donation levels.

To anyone not interested in this simply because it involves kinect the kickstater page states...

"Kinect does work and is great fun to use in certain games. Kung Fu Superstar is one of them. It all depends on how you design and implement the motion control gameplay in your game.

Also if you don't like motion controls you don't have to use motion controls. Ever. You can play the whole game on your controller."

I'm getting sick about kinect haters and uninformed people in general.

1- martial arts are for the most part, safe business.
2- the game can be played alone with controller.

period.
