Dead to Rights: Retribution Trailer

Volatile Games and Namco have released a new trailer for their upcoming Dead to Rights: Retribution, the long-awaited sequel the 2002 shooter.

The original game was praised for it's impressive story and length, and the sequel hopes to continue that trend. The game's visuals have understandably improved tenfold, and the camera and shooting elements similarly seeing a huge improvement in the last eight years, which is nothing but a good thing. Not only that, the game also boasts "the most robust brawling system ever seen in a shooter," which definitely has a lot of potential.

Dead to Rights: Retribution follows vice-cop Jack Slate and his canine companion Shadow as they fight to expose the shadowy figures of Grant City and bring order back to the crumbling metropolis. Deadly on their own, Jack and Shadow are even more formidable as they team up to defeat the threats they will uncover.

A visually stunning 3rd person action game, Dead to Right: Retribution allows players to combine different fighting styles as they encounter ruthless gangs and maneuver through the filthy slums and menacing alleys of Grant City. the cutting edge combat system combines with advanced AI and a powerfully emotive neo-noir storyline to take players on a compelling journey.
The trailer (which as always, you can see for yourself via the External Link below) shows off the game's gorgeous visuals and gameplay as well as briefly outlining the game's plot. The trailer is worth watching if only for the scene near the middle where Slate violently knees someone in the face, blood exploding from their face, then throws the guy to the ground, stamping on and breaking his leg as he wails in excruciating pain. If that's what you're looking for in a game, you will not be disappointed with DTR:R.

The game will also allow you to take control of Shadow during some sections, being able to stealthily tear your enemies apart limb from limb. While Jack Slate does seem like a bit of a paint-by-numbers protagonist, how many shooters let you take control of your canine and viciously attack your enemies?

A bloody, brutal shooter, with amazing-looking mêlée combat and a playable canine sidekick? I'm sold!

Dead to Rights: Retribution is scheduled for release on April 13th in North America and April 23rd in Europe.
