IO Interactive has revealed the release date for Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days
in the last few minutes.
Scheduled to arrive on August 24th (US) and August 27th (EU), the sequel to Kane and Lynch: Deadmen
is to be set in the ‘gritty Shanghai underworld’. IO Interactive say that the latest installment will draw heavily on a new artistic style designed to mimic that of a documentary and also of user generated content on websites such as Youtube.
Another key difference is that this time, the proceedings will be observed from Lynch’s point of view instead of Kane’s. In case you need your memory jogging, Lynch was the guy prone to ‘medicinal’ related outbursts and fits of rage.
A press release stated that "every aspect of the game has been designed to deliver a fresh perspective to the words 'intensity' and 'realism'". And from the sounds of it IO Interactive has listened to and built upon the criticisms received first time round as general manager of IO Niels Jorgensen stated:
A special thanks to gamers worldwide for their feedback. They are certainly in for a shock as we, with immense pride, welcome back our two dear, violent and somewhat unfortunate friends.
The competitive co-op multiplayer will make a return with as yet unspecified expansions and alterations, which I for one welcome with open arms. In addition to this, the story mode is reported to be fully playable in co-op mode.
With a divided audience impression based upon the first Kane and Lynch title, it remains to be seen how gamers will receive the sequel when it arrives later this year.
