Final Fantasy XI Gets Double XP This Weekend

By Rebecca Smith, 3 years ago
Players will already know that Final Fantasy XI is not a game for the faint at heart. The full completion will take several years of gameplay in order to level up each of the 18 characters (20 if you have the "Wings of the Goddess Expansion"), let alone the cost of the monthly subscription fee, so any bit of help is a bonus, yes? Well, this weekend marks the very first EXP event for the game.

Square Enix are celebrating the impending release of the game's fifth expansion, "Seekers of Adoulin", which is the reason for the special event. Double EXP will be rewarded in all areas of Vana'diel when slaying monsters. The Dedication effect that is gained from experience bonus equipment is also doubled. However, players will not be awarded double EXP for completing "certain types of content" or using items that would normally award EXP, nor will double EXP be awarded for any action in Abyssea areas.

The event is already running and will continue until 6:59 AM (PST) on Monday, February 11th. Time to hone your skills and level up your bard / beastmaster / black mage / blue mage / corsair / dancer / dark knight / dragoon / monk / ninja / paladin / puppetmaster / ranger / red mage / samurai / scholar / summoner / thief / warrior / white mage. Blessed by light and the burden of shadows, souls abide to an endless desire to get level 75.
