Game developer, Spiders, are aiming to give players one hell of an experience with the upcoming RPG, Mars: War Logs
. Based on the Red Planet a few hundred years into the future, humans attempt to colonize on Mars but end up having very little success. These new screenshots give us a preview of the story to come, featuring a planet filled with civil war, "where native populations consist of mutants, religious fanatics, and bandits likely to kill you to steal your water".
Roy Temperance, the game's main protagonist, will need all of his skills, wits, and guts about him if he's to survive with his companions in this brutal and harsh world. As you can see in the above screen, Roy looks ahead at the slums built by survivors "of the extraordinary planet-wide cataclysm that shook the planet 200 years ago". It may not look like much of a dangerous place in the one screen, but with despotic leaders living and moving through these slums, trouble can easily spring out of no where if Roy is not too careful.
Mars War Logs plunges you into a thrilling cyberpunk RPG on the Red Planet. You will develop Roy and his combat style by choosing from dozens of skills and perks. Pick from pure combat, stealth and trickery, or fierce Technomancer powers. The choice is yours! The real-time combat system requires both reflexes and tactics while you battle fearsome opponents and Mars' most terrifying creatures in dynamic combat. The crafting system lets you create and modify equipment to maintain an edge over your enemies. Dialogue choices as well as your actions will influence the destiny of everyone Roy crosses paths with...and perhaps the fate of all the colonies on Mars
Of course, living on the Red Planet will mean there's much more trouble to worry about other than just other humans, psychos, thieves, and murderers on Mars. Roy and the colonies must steer clear of life-ending, bone-breaking, dangerous landscapes, and another force that's kind of hard to do battle with; The Sun! Solar Radiation will be much more painful than sun burn, and if the heat and scorching sun doesn't finish Roy off, you can bet the vicious, terrifying, ugly, and ferocious creatures of Mars will.
In this cyber punk universe of chaos and mass fights for control over ever-precious water, will you have what it takes to keep Roy and his friends alive?
Gamers will be able to put their skills to the test when Mars: War Logs
releases sometime this Spring.
