Whether or not you're a fan of the idea, we've all had to come to terms with the fact that that Assassin's Creed series is on an annual release cycle. While the announcement of the next game in the franchise isn't surprising, it's always a big deal when the latest title is revealed.

Today, Ubisoft has given us the first hint at the next game to bear the series' name, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, via the release of the game's box art:

At the moment, all we can tell you is what we can glean from the cover, and that's that the series will stay in the Revolutionary War setting and, given the black flag mentioned in the title and on the box art, pirates may be involved.

We'll be able to give you more details about the game when Ubisoft reveals them this coming Monday, March 4th.
