1000 Club Expansion Drives Into Forza Horizon

By Rebecca Smith,
The majority of the previous Forza Horizon DLC has been car packs. The exception was the addition of the "Rally Expansion Pack" with its cars and rally racing. For today's DLC, Playground Games has decided to shift the focus from the cars themselves and add more activities for players. The main feature of the "1000 Club Expansion" is the addition of five new challenges for EVERY car in the game. Once players select a car, they will be presented with a list of challenges that can be completed while driving the vehicle. Completing a challenge will earn a medal. As the challenges are completed, the game will recommend new challenges for players to attempt.

The challenges range from speed zone challenges to skill challenges in things like drifting or jumping. Others just require a little showing off. Some challenges will take place in specific locations with a different angle on Horizon Festival events or drifting around the roads of Red Rocks. If players are struggling to complete the challenges, they can have a look at the tips that are provided to help complete the challenge, such as ideal locations for smashing objects. They can be completed in any order so that players can still cruise around the world as they see fit.

The DLC expansion adds ten new achievements worth a total of 250G. However, it wouldn't be a Forza Horizon DLC expansion if it didn't add at least a couple of new vehicles. Here they are:

1995 RUF CTR2

In the late 1980s, Ruf made its auspicious debut in the world of high-performance cars with the original RUF CTR. Nearly a decade later, founder Alois Ruf succeeded in one-upping himself with the CTR2. Like a good Hollywood action sequel, the CTR2 featured more of what fans loved about the original – namely incredible performance, thanks to a 3.6 liter, twin turbocharged flat-six capable of 520 horsepower and a top speed north of 215 mph. As intended, this kind of performance immediately catapulted the CTR2 into the rarefied air of the world’s most elite vehicles, in demand by collectors and speed junkies alike.

1956 Ford F100

Ford’s F100 truck series was a hit in 1953 but didn’t really hit its stride until the 1956 model – the best-looking and most powerful version of Ford’s classic workhorse. Maybe it was the new grille. Or that wraparound windscreen. Fans of the blue oval had the optional V8, too, which boosted the F100 to a respectable 167 horsepower, plenty of power for a hard-working vehicle. The F100 went through additional revisions but, for Ford truck connoisseurs, the 1956 model remains a high point.
