Spies and Mercs Return in Splinter Cell: Blacklist

The most recent coverage of Ubisoft's upcoming stealth-action title, Splinter Cell: Blacklist has been directed at the single-player aspects of the game. Last time out, Sam Fisher's abilities were scrutinised, and prior to that the Abandoned Mill level got an extended period in the spotlight.

Ubisoft has released a new trailer that shows Spies and Mercenaries will once again go head-to-head in the title's multi-player modes. The footage highlights that each group employs a different approach when trying to gain the upperhand on the opposition. The Spies are stealthy, agile and deadly predators, who prefer to lurk in the dark shadows to allow them to successfully hack computer data unnoticed. In sharp contrast, the Mercenaries (Mercs) opt for a more brash method of attack. They run the risk of being spotted as they usually stick to well-lit areas, but are powerful enough to overcome an enemy with their brutal combat skills.

Which technique do you prefer?

The release date of August 22nd, 2013 at the end of the above video refers to the planned arrival of Splinter Cell: Blacklist in Australia. The game is set to sneak into retail outlets in North America on August 20th, and Europe on August 23rd. There are a bundle of pre-order bonuses available. European gamers should take a look at these options, whilst their counterparts on the other side of the pond should check this short listing from several retailers. If you're feeling flush with cash then maybe you should consider the uber-expensive, yet equally impressive, Paladin Multi-Mission Aircraft Edition of the title.
