In the wake of the Xbox One
reveal, quite a number of game reveals have started to trickle through. In addition to Quantum Break
and Call of Duty: Ghosts
, we also have news of another new IP coming to the console: Dying Light
Developed by Techland, the people behind the recently released Dead Island Riptide (Xbox 360)
, Dying Light appears to be another zombie title, though zombies aren't specifically named in the announcement. During the daylight hours in-game, players will have to scour the outbreak-ravaged lands looking for supplies and sustenance. When night falls, survival is the name of the game, as players must use everything in their power to make it to morning.
Kevin Kebodeaux, Senior Vice President, Sales and Operations, Americas, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, had the following to say about the upcoming title:
We are excited to partner with Techland on Dying Light, which is an original gaming experience for next-generation consoles. The partnership with Techland allows us to combine their successful development capabilities with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s one-of-a-kind publishing expertise to deliver on this title.
Pawel Marchewka, CEO of Techland, added his thoughts as well:
The next-gen technology allows us to create a truly dynamic open world that features a game-changing day-night cycle. Inventive free running mechanics also allow for nearly unrestricted exploration and weapon-crafting to further enhance the action survival experience.
No specific release date was yet announced for Dying Light
, though we do know it's coming in 2014. We can also confirm that the game will be available for both the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One.
