The 2012-2013 NHL season came to an unbelievable, jaw-dropping close on Monday as the Chicago Blackhawks scored two goals in 17 seconds late in the third period to defeat the Boston Bruins and win the Stanley Cup. Now with the NHL Draft just around the corner the NHL 14 cover athlete has been revealed.

Starting back in April, EA Sports has been running a voting tournament to determine who the cover athlete would be. After several elimination rounds it came down to goaltenders Sergei Bobrovsky of the Columbus Blue Jackets and Martin Brodeur of the New Jersey Devils. After the final round of voting it has been announced that Martin Brodeur will be the cover athlete for NHL 14.

In his career Martin Brodeur has amassed 669 career wins, the only goaltender to win at least 600, as well as an additional 113 wins in the playoffs. He holds numerous different records including his league leading 121 regular season shutouts, the most career goals by a goaltender with 3, and the most career saves with 27,901, just to name a few. It is undeniable that he is one of the best goaltenders to ever play the game so a huge congratulations goes out to Marty on finally making the cover!

Brodeur will be front and center on the cover when NHL 14 releases September 10th in North America and September 13th Worldwide.
