This report is for the period July 29th to August 4th 2013
Oh, hello. I didn't see you there. People often ask me, "Chewie, what makes you the right Wookiee for Stats?". I tell them, "Wrong place, wrong time, I guess". Sometimes, people also ask me, "How do you type with fur all over your giant fingers?". My answer is invariably, "How do you think with no brain matter inside your noggin hole?" A frequent question also includes, "Why are you so cruel to your league of Ewok workers, the Statisticles?". To them I say, "I don't understand the question and I won't respond to it".Games Started
24,610 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 35,759 games between them (1,914 different games).
Ezio falls down a crack from first into second thanks to Crackdown
taking over on the "Games with Gold" program midway through this week. Over 4,500 starters ventured into Pacific City to take down the gangs, whereas just under 1,000 wandered into Renaissance Italy to assassinate some Templars.
With no new releases this month, most of the rest of the table reflects the same titles as previous weeks, with the exception of Grand Theft Auto IV
in eighth with nearly 250 starters. The five year old game returns to the charts thanks to a themed Deal of the Week
. The two DLC packs are no stranger to marketplace deals, but this time the Games on Demand version of the game was also discounted.Top Retail Games Started
The top two titles on Arcade Games Started remain the same ones as the last few weeks, with Spartacus Legends
remaining on top, above Defense Grid: The Awakening
, which many people are still starting, despite it being a full two weeks since it stopped being free on "Games with Gold"
When is a new game not a new game? When it's a beta. World Series of Poker: Full House Pro
hasn't been officially released yet, but its beta has begun to filter out, starting in Canada. Because of this, enough Canadian beta players (nearly 250) put the game on this week's table in fifth.
Two actual new releases sit side by side on the table this week, with top-down shooter Narco Terror
just beating out randomly generating level platformer CloudBerry Kingdom
in seventh and eighth respectively.Top Arcade Games Started
Two new releases storm onto the Windows Phone Games Started table this week, pulling in bigger numbers than anything else for a while. The first one, UNO & Friends (WP)
, grabs a whopping 880 starters (well it is
free), whereas the second, Fruit Ninja (2013) (WP)
, slices 500 starters in second.
In third and fourth are this week and last week's Deals of the Week, ilomilo (WP)
and Monopoly (WP)
. Interestingly enough, the rest of the table gives a selection of the many freebies on the Windows Phone Marketplace, with not one of the bottom six titles selling for over $/£/€/¥ 0.00.Top Windows Phone Games StartedGames Completed
6,981 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 10,020 games between them (1,337 different games).
The easy completion and sheer number of new players continues to allow Assassin's Creed II
to rule on Retail Games Completed, with Borderlands 2 (Xbox 360)
continuing to follow in second. Although no new releases make it onto the table, last week's The Smurfs 2
continues to retain a fourth place position, whilst the "Stasis Interrupted
" DLC for Aliens: Colonial Marines
keeps the game in fifth.Top Retail Games Completed
Nothing to see here, apart from The Walking Dead (Xbox 360)
still smashing the numbers thanks to "400 Days
". I still haven't got round to starting the DLC yet - too much else to play. I'm thinking I'll probably get around to it in...oh, I don't know...400...days...Top Arcade Games Completed
An easy completion lands Fruit Ninja (2013)
nicely at the top of Windows Phone Games Completed, with over 200 completions. At the moment almost 55% of players have completed the game. Good for them. For some reason I'm rubbish at Fruit Ninja
. I haven't even been able to finish the original
, answering the age-old question: who would win in a fight, Wookiees or Ninjas? Or rather, who would win in a fight that involved chopping fruit for apparently no reason?Top Windows Phone Games CompletedAchievements Won
60,951 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 673,440 achievements online between them (51,676 different achievements).Crackdown
manages to crack down on Ezio's complete and utter domination of Retail Achievements Won for the last few weeks, although it can't quite build up the strength to manage a clean sweep. That's thanks in part to a couple of achievements for the "Clash in the Clouds
" DLC that was released for BioShock Infinite (Xbox 360)
. I have a feeling that the DLC will put the game squarely back on Retail Games Completed next week. Ezio also refuses to completely bow out, with The Birth of an Assassin
clinging on in ninth.Top Retail Achievements Won
Last week I complained that this was almost a rehash of the previous week's table. Now, just to spite me, it is a complete
rehash of last week's. I'm'a gonna smash someone.Top Arcade Achievements Won
Windows Phone Achievements gets sliced right down the middle [CRITICAL +10] by UNO & Friends
and Fruit Ninja (2013)
, with UNO
winning out on the top half.Top Windows Phone Achievements Won
It's almost no change on Genre this week, apart from Car & Board gaining one spot at the bottom thanks to UNO
and all his friends.Total TrueAchievements won by Genre
That's all for now. A relatively quiet week apart from the Crackdown
domination. You can really feel how things have slowed right down in preparation for the upcoming storm that will be the Autumn release madness.
