State of Decay Title Update 3 Rolling Out

State of Decay Title Update 3 Rolling Out

A bevy of fixes and enhancements, and one word of warning

Written by Dread Reaver on 09 August 13 at 00:35

OK zombie-hunters, listen up: Undead Labs have confirmed that Title Update 3 for their zombie apocalypse title State of Decay has begun rolling out worldwide. If you haven't done so already, fire up your copy of the game and you should be prompted to download it.

This latest update includes the following fixes and enhancements:

NPCs
- You can now ask a community NPC to follow you and watch your back. Followers can also accompany you on most non-storyline missions.
- NPCs who have been told to leave your community no longer remain in your Journal and take up bed space.
- Jacob can no longer be selected for a "Mercy Shot" mission before he gives you the “Home Away from Home” mission.
- You can now train members of another Enclave in your Dojo immediately upon construction of the Dojo.

HOMES
- Fixed Snyder Warehouse not repairing vehicles.
- Fixed community NPCs sometimes blocking the door to Snyder Warehouse.
- You can no longer move to a Home site that supports fewer Outposts than you currently control.
- Vehicles are no longer teleported to Home parking spaces at 6:00 AM.

OUTPOSTS
- Outposts are now numbered on the map.
- Added Journal log entry for establishing an Outpost.
- Outpost bonuses to Stockpiles are now retained when the game is restarted.

MISSIONS
- Added Journal log entries for "Memento" mission.
- Changed AI to ensure zombies are present when you get a training mission or a morale mission.
- You are now reminded every 15 minutes, starting at 30 minutes, that your progress is not being saved while in a mission.
- Fixed bug that allowed save spinner to sometimes display during missions.
- Additional polish to "The Law" mission.

MISC
- Fixed an issue where Influence attrition wasn't scaling properly, which led to some Influence exploits.
- Removed references to generators in Fuel description.
- Fixed a terrain issue that caused parked vehicles to catch on fire when restarting the game.
- Fixed getting “Stockpile maximum exceeded” Journal log entry immediately after leaving Mount Tanner.
- Fixed issues that allowed community to exceed the population cap.
- Minor improvements to shadows.
- Fixed some missing subtitles.
- Fixed some floating bushes and grass.
- Fixed some typos.
- Fixed issues in non-English translations.
A word of warning though: if you were experiencing the "overlarge community bug", whereby the game would freeze, crash after mere minutes of gameplay, or be unable to load your save game, there is a very small chance you will have to restart your entire game. However, this should only be a problem for those with really, REALLY large communities. Don't shoot the messenger!

The ability to have a community member follow you is going to make the game SO much easier. It will also be a very large help with the upcoming DLC.

I beat the game a few times over now after buying it on release day and have never ran into any bugs of glitches other then a zombie or two just looking at me instead of attacking me. Was I just lucky to have not had these issues? Is it really that wide spread?

Sweet, when I can finally nab this one it should work wonderfully. For once I'm happy with my ginormous backlog taking up my time.

Looking forward to being able to take a companion any time you want. Huge improvement.

I played through without experiencing any major bugs. A zombie was underneath a porch one time and I had alot of infestations. But they actually gave me something to do so I was happy with that.

Well at least not as much as they once did. its a good game, I loved it for what it is, a open world zombie game with survival elements. Its your call, but don't hold your breath on Co-op.

I have to start playing this again. Does the day cycle continue when you're not playing? I haven't picked it up in a month and I'm worried when I go back my whole compound will be wiped out lol.

Other than that you will be fine.

They designed the simulator to have a cumulative effect but at a depreciating rate. So for instance logging off for 24 hours has a very noticeable impact. Log off for 48 hours and it adds a bit more impact. Logging off for a week versus a month has almost no noticeable difference. They designed the simulator that way to account for casual gamers. So like I said as long as you left the game with a stable group its highly unlikely that there will be any problems.

http://forums.undeadlabs.com/showthread.php?27317-Update-on-...

That pretty much speaks for itself and their reasons. Can't say I agree but I'm also not a programmer for this game so I have no idea how difficult it would be to implement co-op. My gut tells me that the issue with multiplayer is how to incorporate it with the persistent world offline simulator.
