Xbox One Launch Markets Confirmed

By Rebecca Smith, 3 years ago
Back at E3, Microsoft announced that the Xbox One would be released in 21 countries as part of the console's launch. It turns out that this production was a little too ambitious and the launch has now been rolled back to just 13 countries. The countries that will be receiving the console at launch in November are Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, United Kingdom, and United States.

The reason for the reduction in markets is that Microsoft wants to ensure that players get the best Xbox One experience possible from launch day. This includes a localization of the Xbox One dashboard, the incorporation of additional voice and languages, and building partnerships to bring apps and local content to every market. Unfortunately, this means that the launch of the Xbox One has been delayed to 2014 for the following eight countries: Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden, and Switzerland.

As a show of "appreciation for your patience", players who have pre-ordered the Xbox One Day One system in the affected eight countries will also receive a pack-in game with your console when it launches. To take advantage of the offer and to answer any possible questions that you may have, Microsoft are encouraging players to contact the retailer from whom you placed your order for more information.
