Puzzle Quest 2 Hits XBLA June 30

More RPG-puzzle goodness headed our way.

Written by Saint Devourer on 22 June 10 at 04:50

Publisher of the last two iterations of the Puzzle Quest series, Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords and Puzzle Quest Galactrix, D3Publisher have tagged the next game in the series, Puzzle Quest 2, with a release date of June 30th for it's Xbox Live Marketplace port of the game.

Here's a little blurb about the game from D3Publisher:

Puzzle Quest 2 is a brand new adventure from Infinite Interactive, the award winning developer of the supreme puzzle-rpg experience. Featuring a hallmark blend of match-3 gem matching and fantasy, Puzzle Quest 2 offers a captivating, rewarding, and accessible journey for players of all skill levels as they make their way to reclaim the once peaceful village of Verloren from the evil clutch of the demon Gorgon. Players will get closer to the Puzzle Quest action than ever before with a more intimate viewpoint of the world and choose from any of four character classes, Sorcerer, Templar, Barbarian, or Assassin, each providing interesting twists on class-specific mechanics for hours of replayability. Players will level up their character to progress through the adventure in Story Mode or dive into Instant Action, Tournament Mode, or Multiplayer Mode for a rich and diverse gameplay experience. To reiterate, Puzzle Quest 2 arrives on the Xbox Live Marketplace on June 30th.

Nice, had fun playing the first one. But after I beat everything and had my character at 50, it just didn't have any replay value for me.

Loved Puzzle Quest, but not sure I want to pay 1200 points. I totally agree with the lack of replay.

I dunno. I loved Puzzle Quest, but I was completely tired of it long before I'd beaten it. Not sure if I really want to drop another $15 on that, but as long as it's not like Galactrix I may have to give it a whirl.

Lt CarpettMunch said:ERIKDOTCOM said:Never played the first two; is it worth trying out?same here, the trailer seems interesting though...The game is basically Bejeweled (connect 3-5 gems in a row) meets Final Fantasy 1 (NES). You get a character level him/her up through fighting monsters (Bejeweled style), get weapons, armor, and items that allow you do more damage, gain more mana, and have more HP, etc etc as you fight along a standard RPG storyline.

Combat is all Bejeweled base so if you don't like playing "gem/color matching games" then its not the game for you.

You can still download the demo for the first one in the Game Marketplace.

I'm hoping this means they will put Galactrix on DOTW.

Want this, but not seeing it as a 1200 point purchase. DOTW definite though.

I sunk days into the first one, simply loved it, but it can get frustrating if you turn it into a grind. Gotta play it in parts.

gotta go back and beat the first, will probably wait for 2 to go on sale like I did the first, not that 1200 isn't worth it though solid game.

Still half the price of the DS version with more features.

Instabuy for me, but I can understand why those new to the genre (which PQ created 3 years ago) would be hesitant. From what I understand i2 have been allowed to use more RPG features this time and it's a lot more hardcore.

Anyone who was bored after one character didn't realise just how different the classes in PQ played. Especially if you had the DLC plague lord pack.

It's one of the only games I've ever bothered to 100%.

Ed: And IGN gave the new version 9/10 and recommended the Xbox version.

Instabuy for me, I loved Puzzle Quest and the expansions.
Didn't play Galactrix though. Is it worth in case of DOTW?
