Everybody loves something for nothing. In the last year, we have been spoilt for choice with the amount of freebies to choose from on the Xbox Live Marketplace, from free-to-play titles such as Spartacus Legends
, Happy Wars
and Doritos Crash Course 2
, to freebies as part of the ongoing "Games with Gold" scheme, including Fable III
, Assassin's Creed II (Xbox 360)
and Dead Rising 2 (Xbox 360)
Yesterday, we were treated to another freebie in the form of 2010 platformer, Ben 10 Alien Force: The Rise of Hex
. Wait, wait wait! Don't go running to the Marketplace just yet to throw down your hard earned air money. Unfortunately I must be the bearer of bad news, as the free price of the game seems to have been a temporary glitch (i.e. blunder). However, rather than the price being put back onto the game, it has now been completely removed from the marketplace, mere hours after the price was slashed.
Presumably, the intention had been to remove the game in the first place, rather than knock the price off, so we must assume this delisting is related to licensing and is permanent. However, with no official word from developers Black Lantern, publishers Konami or Microsoft, we'll probably never know. If the game does reappear though, we'll be sure to let you know.
Thanks to the members of the community who drew our attention to this happy and then subsequently sad news.
