Madden NFL 25
has been available at retailers for a month now for the current generation of consoles. Now it is time to focus on the next generation. EA SPORTS has released the first next-gen Madden 25
playbook that details the visual and graphical details that will make the game stand out on the Xbox One. EA SPORTS IGNITE gives EA Tiburon the chance to add ten times the visual detail and up to four times the texture resolution than can be found on the current generation of consoles, as well as enhanced lighting for every time of the day. If you would like a quick overview of the details, take a look at the trailer:
As well as the added visual detail, the complexity of clothing materials has been enhanced so that they behave like real cloth. Players should be able to notice the stitching of the uniform, jerseys that fit the form of the player to make them difficult to grab, and even flowing player towels such as that of Robert Griffin III's towel in the trailer. This means a different kind of detail to fellow EA franchises like FIFA
and NBA LIVE
where player jerseys have a looser fitting.
Not only has cloth detail increased, a player's skin will look like it is behaving like real skin. Players will no longer look rigid as every nuance of their face adds to the real effect. The reflections on a player's helmet can be replicated now, as can paint transfer and the smearing of mud due to the engine's field and uniform degradation. Even the player's hair is detailed, such as Robert Griffin III's hair in the trailer or Marshawn Lynch’s dreadlocks below.
The increased horsepower of the engine allows the creation of true 3D crowds. They will have distinct patterns that will be able to bring an 80,000 seat stadium to life. Gone are the times when only 16 crowd characters could be rendered on cards.
Even the grass on the pitch will look more realistic. There are 56% more pixels in every frame meaning that blades of grass will stand out.
The EA SPORTS IGNITE engine will be used across all of EA's next generation sports titles. This means that advancements can be shared across the different development teams. Details like crowds and sidelines can be built by the Madden
team using a shared core rendering and animation system and then be shared with the teams working on FIFA
or NBA LIVE
. The aim is to create a base library so that time and effort is not wasted in creating similar assets.Madden NFL 25
will be available for the Xbox One on November 19th in North America and November 22nd in Europe.
