Battlefield 4 Open Beta Goes Live

By Rebecca Smith, 3 years ago
Three days ago, the closed beta began for Battlefield 4. This was limited to Battlefield 3 Premium members or owners of the Medal of Honor: Warfighter Limited Edition. The exclusive period has now ended and the Battlefield 4 beta is now open to all. The beta is 1.56GB in size and can be downloaded from here.

The Beta features all-out war in the multiplayer map Siege of Shanghai. Battlefield 4 is the genre-defining action blockbuster made of moments that blur the line between game and glory. Fueled by the next-generation power and fidelity of Frostbite™ 3, Battlefield 4 provides a visceral, dramatic experience unlike any other. Only in Battlefield will you blow the foundations of a dam or reduce an entire skyscraper to rubble. Only in Battlefield will you lead a naval assault from the back of a gun boat. Battlefield grants you the freedom to do more and be more while playing to your strengths and carving your own path to victory. This is an online only multiplayer Beta. Please note that the Beta is still undergoing testing before its official release and does not reflect the quality of the final product.
The beta is free to download. Although the beta only showcases multiplayer modes, Xbox LIVE Free members will still be able to enjoy the action until October 6th if they live in select Xbox LIVE regions courtesy of the ongoing Gold Unlocked weekend. Check here to see if your region is included.

The beta ends on October 15th. This gameplay footage aims to show you exactly what you'll be missing if you don't try it out.

If that isn't enough, we have another sneak preview of the multiplayer action courtesy of one of the lucky gamers who managed to get their hands on the game early. This time, we get to see a fiery ambush:

If you would like to check up on all of the memorable multiplayer moments so far, take a look at these:
