Motoring fans looking forward to the upcoming racing title, Project CARS
, will be pleased to know that the development team over at Slightly Mad Studios has agreed to a licensing deal with one of the sports most iconic manufacturers, McLaren.
The game will feature five of the manufacturer's cars, beginning with the original McLaren F1 from 1994 through to the newest McLaren P1 hypercar. The other cars making up the complete set are the F1 GTR, the 12C, and the 12C GT3.
Project CARS will allow everyone to experience the long way McLaren has come, starting with the 1994 McLaren F1. The company’s first road car made the Guiness Book of World Records as “World’s Fastest Production Road Car”, hitting 391 kph of top-end speed thanks to its mighty BMW V12 engine.
The F1’s speed translated to on-track success quickly as McLaren won the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans and made a big impact on GT racing with the F1 GTR race car that was campaigned around the world by various customer teams.
16 years later, McLaren picked up where they left off with a brand new road car, the McLaren 12C. Like its predcessor, the 12C set a new benchmark across the board, earning the car the “ 2012 Car of the Year” & “Best Supercar” awards.
Once again, a successful road car also bred a great racing machine as the McLaren 12C GT3 has been successfully racing in some of the world’s most competitive racing seris and endurance racing events since 2012.
Completing the selection of McLaren cars in Project CARS is the company’s newest brainchild – The Mclaren P1 plug-in hybrid supercar.
remains scheduled for release in 2014, with the release date still to be confirmed.
