This report is for the period November 11th to November 17th 2013
Welcome to this Stats from the final week before the One was released. Because no one dared to release any big titles right before that particular piece of action, it's a fairly quiet week. My Ewok helpers, the Statisticles, have been hard at work trying to catch up on all the new figures and tables that the new console brings, especially considering how the coding and tracking for the site has had to be totally rebuilt for it.
Let's be honest though, you aren't reading this, you're all playing on your shiny new consoles.Games Started
22,650 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 32,049 games between them (1,831 different games).
Although it takes a chunk off its numbers, from just over 11,000 to a little over 3,000, Call of Duty: Ghosts (Xbox 360)
easily maintains the top spot thanks to a lack of big releases this week. Its main shooter rival, Battlefield 4 (Xbox 360)
, shaves 1,000 starters off its own numbers to take under 900 in second. XCOM: Enemy Within
is the only completely new release to make the table, all the way down in ninth place. I say "completely new release" because, although already out in North America for a few weeks, the release of LEGO Marvel Super Heroes (Xbox 360)
in Europe and other territories help boost it up from eighth to fourth place with an extra 500 starters. Apparently people weren't in the mood for adventures as neither Deadfall Adventures
or Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because IDK
manage to pull in high enough numbers. My Statisticles love adventure titles themselves. In fact, Indy (short for Indecent - real name Brad) will only play games with the word "adventure" in the title. As such, he picked up these two eagerly and has played the likes of Sonic Adventure
, Mini Ninjas Adventures
, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure HD
, Kinect Adventures
and Jillian Michaels' Fitness Adventure
. That last one in particular is a favourite in the Stats office.
Thanks to a 50% price cut as part of this week's Deal of the Week
, hack-n-slash reboot DmC: Devil May Cry
leaps up onto the table in eighth with nearly 250 starters.Top Retail Games Started
The new "Games with Gold" freebie proves a popular one as Double Fine's Iron Brigade
takes top spot with over 2,500 starters. The previous freebie, A World of Keflings
, continues to carry high numbers with 1,400 in second.
New puzzling brain-teaser The Bridge (Xbox 360)
manages over 180 starters in third. For more on the gravity twisting, Escher inspired mind-bender, check out our official review here
The previous week's sales titles, CastleStorm
and Serious Sam 3: BFE
continue to make appearances in seventh and eighth.
I wonder if, seeing as the One doesn't differentiate between Retail and Arcade, with all games carrying a base 1,000GS, we'll slowly start to see the Arcade table fade into insignificance.Top Arcade Games Started
Last week I pointed out new free-to-play title Kingdoms & Lords (WP)
low place on the table in fourth with only 60 starters, wondering if people had become over-saturated by the numerous free-to-play releases on the mobile platform. Then this happened. Turns out the game was undergoing a "soft release" i.e. releasing across different regions at different times. Now the game is out proper and it has taken the numbers by storm, grabbing 870 starters in first place.
This week's sale title, Flight Control Rocket (WP)
does well in second with 200 starters, as does last week's sale title, Rayman Jungle Run (WP)
, in third with 75.Top Windows Phone Games StartedGames Completed
5,417 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 7,458 games between them (1,244 different games).
With the much anticipated return to Rature delivered in the "Burial at Sea
" DLC for BioShock Infinite (Xbox 360)
, the game was always going to make a return to the Games Completed table. Thanks to mostly easy achievements, it storms into the top, with over 300 completions.Ghosts
steps up the table from fifth to second, going from 75 to 260 completions. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (Xbox 360)
makes a simple jump from eighth to fifth with a rise from 60 to 100 completions.
Two easy DLC packages for GRID 2
, "Bathurst Track Pack
" and "Classic GRID Pack
" put the game in eighth place with 60 completions.Top Retail Games Completed
With a top half that very much resembles last week's table, Arcade continues to be dominated by W's, with The Walking Dead (Xbox 360)
, The Wolf Among Us (Xbox 360)
and A World of Keflings
. The Bridge
manages to take ninth place with 25 completions, despite containing some real noggin-busters. However, Iron Brigade
is yet to surface. Maybe, next week.Top Arcade Games Completed
There is literally nothing new or interesting to see here or say about it, so I'm just going to move on.Top Windows Phone Games CompletedAchievements Won
63,543 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 641,686 achievements online between them (48,964 different achievements).
Last week's table full of Ghosts
is very nearly repeated this week, apart from a single achievement from Infinite
's "Burial at Sea", the appropriately named Down in the Briney
, which takes me back to this little vintage gem
.Top Retail Achievements WonIron Brigade
takes the two two and fourth spots, with the rest given over to Keflings
, suggesting that although more people started the former, more people are playing the latter. That and the achievements are easier.Top Arcade Achievements WonKingdoms & Lords
dominates with its small selection of easy achievements, whilst Flight Control Rocket
shoots down eighth and tenth places.Top Windows Phone Achievements Won
After stealing back the top spot last week, Shooter maintains over 8 million this week, whilst Action-Adventure sinks from over 7 million to under 6.5 million. Now that their respective titles have slipped in numbers, Sports (WWE 2K14
) and Simulation (Keflings
) both slide down the table, with Sports dropping from fourth to fifth and Simulation dropping from seventh to ninth.Total TrueAchievements won by Genre
That's all this week folks. Join us next time when I hope (hope!) the Statisticles will have figured out how to incorporate One stats. If they haven't, you have my permission to trample them in your fury.
