It's slim pickings on the release schedule next week, kiddos. With three options on the docket and the most prime choice, The Walking Dead: Season Two - A Telltale Games Series
, sure to be full of narrative spoilers once it gets scanned in, it's down to two DLC pack options to fight for the right to be featured by the Achievement Preview Spotlight.
As the arbiter of such incidents, I'm just going to say that it's hard to beat a pirate and the "China Rising" DLC for Battlefield 4
has already been in the wild for Premium members, so we'll be sticking to the high seas with the first story-based DLC for Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
, "Freedom Cry".
The bad news about this decision is that there aren't many achievements to chat about. What we do know is that "Freedom Cry" will have you step into the boots of shipmate assassin, Adewale, and that Ubisoft is saying the DLC should have around four hours of content. In those four hours, gamers can hope to pick up six achievements worth 170G. As of right now, two of those achievements are buried behind the dreaded "Secret" label, leaving us with only four to really take a look at.
More bad news: two of the achievements are very similar in theme and execution.
One can assume that freeing one slave will be "gimme" in "Freedom Cry", let's just hope that finding and freeing 500 isn't a grinding task on the level of Keeper of the Lions Passant
The next achievement should present a fun challenge if you're a fan of mayhem.
Blunderbusses were shotguns before shotguns. Depending on the level of spread that's built into the gun and the distance it disperses, this achievement could require you to "herd" guards into a group before doing the deed. Feel free to borrow my Border Collie
... he's up for the challenge.
Lastly, and not unexpectedly, the final achievement is a tried and true staple of the Assassin's Creed
Best get cracking.
With the caveat that two "Secret" achievements are still to be revealed, the list for "Freedom Cry" doesn't look too onerous for completionists. If you're willing to track down and liberate 500 slaves, it appears to be an easy walk in the park on the achievement front.
While details on pricing are not yet available, "Freedom Cry" is included for those who have already purchased the ACIV
Season Pass. "Freedom Cry" is set to be released on Tuesday, December 17th.
If there's an upcoming game or DLC pack that you'd like to see featured in the Achievement Preview Spotlight, be sure to let us know in the comments!
