Achievement of the Week for December 20th

By Jonathan Barnes, 2 years ago
On our most recent podcast (you do listen, don't you?), we had an incredible suggestion come in from machinesnipes72, who suggested that we have a special "Achievement of the Day" for the site. The podcast crew loved the idea so much, we decided to, much like Captain Picard, "Make it so," with one small change. Since many of us are busy people with busy lives and busy gaming schedules, we wanted to give the community a little more time to pop these achievements, thus we present the "Achievement of the Week"!

Each Friday, we'll be picking a somewhat unloved achievement from one of the more popular* games on TA. We'll post it to the front page, give some of the stats on the achievement, post some of the more popular solutions, and create a nice, little discussion for all of your big game hunters out there.

"Popular" will be subjective, but games within the Top 100 of Games Played by our community, or "Games with Gold" titles will probably be a good bet to start.

To kick things off, we're pulling in an achievement from Gears of War, the most-recent of Microsoft's "Games with Gold". When picking out an achievement, we looked for one with a good ratio, one that could be easily popped within a week's time, and one that would be fun for our community to tackle. So, without further ado, here is our first "Achievement of the Week".

Gears of WarClusterluckThe Clusterluck achievement in Gears of War worth 48 pointsKill 3 enemies at once 10 different times (on any difficulty)

Thus far, 32,182 gamers (out of 151,943 on-site) have popped the achievement.
Clusterluck has a base score of 20G and a 2.17 ratio, which pops the TA score up to 43.

The top community solution is currently from BusyRich who advises:

There is a point in Act 1 Chapter 2 that is waaaay easier to use, just after you've gone up a large stairway and round a corner, Dom shouts "Grubs" and then "Marcus, flank them". At this point you need to flank down the left side to the far end of the area. If you get there quickly enough you can drop a grenade into an emergence hole just as it's opening. If you get the timing right it's a guaranteed triple kill. This method took me less than 10 minutes, rather than the 60 minutes (estimate based on scoring 2 triple kills in ten minutes at the prison door) I would have taken using the pot luck prison door method.
BusyRich's solution also contains an accompanying YouTube guide.

Good Luck!

If you have a suggestion for an Achievement of the Week, be sure to let us know in the comments. Check back next Friday for the full report on how our community did popping this achievement as well as the announcement of our next Achievement of the Week!
