SEGA Announces Alien: Isolation

Most of you would agree that Aliens: Colonial Marines was a disappointment. Players are still waiting for an Aliens game that truly captures the essence of the films. Maybe Creative Assembly's new first-person survival horror title, Alien: Isolation, will be that game.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of Alien and the game, set 15 years after the events of the film, is hoping to capture the feel of Ridley Scott's classic. On a decommissioned trading station on the edge of space, a ruthless Xenomorph is stalking and killing the inhabitants, spreading fear and panic throughout. The Xenomorph is a "truly terrifying creature", who is "as intelligent as he is hostile, relentless, brutal and unstoppable". Players take on the role of Amanda Ripley, daughter of Alien's Ellen Ripley. She seeks to unravel the truth behind her mother's disappearance. She must scavenge resources, improvise and use her wits to stay alive. Not only must she survive the threat of the Alien, but she must also survive the threat from an increasingly desperate station population if she is to stand any chance of succeeding in her mission.

At the end of the trailer, publisher SEGA invited players to find out more about the origins of Alien: Isolation. Here we get to see Creative Assembly's creative lead Al Hope, art lead Jude Bond, and designers Gary Napper and Clive Lindop explain their visions for the game and the experience that they are hoping to create for players.

Those of you who can't watch the trailers can instead feast your eyes upon these atmospheric screenshots instead.
