Irrational Games Changing Focus

By Michelle Balsan, 2 years ago
Ken Levine revealed today that big changes are coming to Irrational Games. The studio is currently busy at work on the last DLC for BioShock Infinite (Xbox 360), but once that is complete, there will be a shift in the studio as we know it.

The studio is going to be shrunk down to about 15 members who will focus on making "narrative-driven games for the core gamer that are highly replayable." Levine also notes that the studio "will focus exclusively on content delivered digitally." This means, in all likelihood, that we'll be leaving the world of BioShock behind once the final DLC is launched. Levine states that the re-imagined Irrational Games will still work closely with Take-Two, as the publisher has supported Levine's decision to make this move.

While we are, of course, saddened by these changes, we're sure those who remain at Irrational will wind up fine. For those affected by the downsizing, we wish them the best going forward.
