As the release of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
swiftly approaches, Konami have revealed details of some crossover content with the next game in the series, a second-screen Smart Glass app and a price reduction for next-gen.
All Ground Zeroes
purchasers will unlock exclusive content to carry-over into the subsequent release, http://www.trueachievements.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-5/achi....htm
, which Ground Zeroes
acts as a prequel for. For example, if you rescue any VIPs and POWs in Ground Zeroes
, they will become staff in The Phantom Pain
on the "Mother Base", which is introduced in Ground Zeroes
, but plays a much larger part in the next game. Additionally character skins unlocked will carry across to the later game.
However, if you're one of the early Ground Zeroes
purchasers, you'll receive exclusive DLC content for The Phantom Pain
. Little is known about the details of the DLC, except that it involves additional resources for the "Mother Base" area in the game. This DLC unlock will come as a download code in the first batch of retail copies and for a limited time with digital copies.
Previously teased in a set of photos
from series creator Hideo Kojima, Konami have also confirmed the second-screen "iDroid" app that can be used for maps, calling air support and playing collectible cassette tapes found in the game. Replicating Big Boss' in-game comms device, the "iDroid" app will be available on iOS, Android and Smart Glass systems for free.
In a final piece of good news, with a price bracket originally $10 higher than the 360 version, the Xbox One version of the game will now be priced the same as its previous generation cousin. Therefore, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
will be available on March 18th, 2014 in North America and March 20th in Europe at a price of $29.99 (or $19.99 digital download) on both platforms.
