This report is for the period February 24th to March 2nd 2014
Man, it feels like ages since I wrote one of these and I'm certain that it isn't the weekend...
Well, that's because it has been and it isn't. Yes, welcome to the first Stats in over a fortnight, playing catch up from the last two missed ones. Part one is here, presenting the numbers from the end of February into the beginning of March and part two should be in the article directly above this one
if the submission monkeys have been taking their vitamins. Because I'm double dipping in a hurry, they'll also be a little on the swift side and there won't be any special tables, I'm afraid. Your (semi) regularly scheduled Stats broadcast will resume this weekend.
And no, Titanfall
and its apparent life sucking qualities aren't the reason I'm so behind. In fact, it's due to a massive relocation from the Big City to the Countryside for Chewie, Mrs Chewie and their associated junk (read: Statisticles). The Countryside does not have internet apparently, and getting it takes a lot of time and stress. While I was connectionless, I had the choice of leaving the articles to one of my fellow Newshounds or one of my Ewok helpers, and I didn't really feel comfortable leaving it in the hands of a slack-jawed numpty. Or a Statisticle.
I jest, I jest.
So, apologies for the delay and on with the Stats.Games Started
32,924 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 48,937 games between them (1,867 different games).
When last we spoke
, new releases for the One were beginning to pick up with Strider (Xbox One)
and Rayman Legends (Xbox One)
circling the 1,000 starters mark. The following week, however, saw Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare (Xbox One)
and THIEF (Xbox One)
pummel those numbers into insignificance, with the former taking over 4,600 starters and the latter achieving over 3,100. I say "pummel", I think Titanfall (Xbox One)
may show what pummelling really looks like when its number show this weekend.
Elsewhere, those new releases of the previous week slip behind Ryse: Son of Rome
into fourth and fifth with between 300 and 400 starters, whilst the other big releases for the One so far remain between 200 and 260 starters.Top Xbox One Games Started
With only two days of freeness tracked on this table, the new "Games with Gold" title, Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution
, easily takes the top spot with over 2,000 starters.
Both of the new One games have 360 versions, with Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare
taking second and fourth place. Both these games fare much better on the One, with PvZ
taking over 3,400 fewer starters and Thief
getting a paltry 750. You can really see the migration of players to next-gen with these numbers.
Another new release comes in the form of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2
, which nestles between the other two new titles in third with almost 840 starters.
Thanks to single day discounts in the "Ultimate Games Sale", Dark Souls
and Saints Row IV
take seventh and eighth place, above previous week sales titles Driver: San Francisco
and DiRT 3
.Top Xbox 360 Retail Games Started
Offered for free for most of the period, Toy Soldiers: Cold War
still sees a significant drop in starters from 6,800 to nearly 1,900. However, it's still more than enough to secure first place by over 1,000 starters, especially because the number two entry, free-to-play strategy title World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition
, also sees a drop from almost 2,000 to under 850.
Titles from the "Ultimate Games Sale" litter the rest of the table, with every other game apart from Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
on sale either in this period or the previous one. And Lara
's only there because she was recently a "Games with Gold" freebie.Top Arcade Games StartedShoot 1UP (WP)
proves a much more popular Deal of the Week title than NBA JAM (WP)
was, taking over 200 starters in second. However, it loses out to new release FIFA 14 (WP)
, which scores almost 250 starters thanks to the popularity of its franchise...oh and the fact that it's free.Top Windows Phone Games StartedGames Completed
6,496 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 8,670 games between them (1,290 different games).
The "Mars' Chosen
" DLC for Rise
and its fairly easy completion puts the game into first with over 180 completions. Currently around 35% of those who started the DLC have finished it, although that only represents 3% of the number of main game players.
Completions for The LEGO Movie Videogame (Xbox One)
continue to pile in, keeping the game above the 100 completion mark in second. The previous week's new release, Strider
makes an appearance in fifth with almost 50 completions, but I think that says more about the relative lack of Xbox One choice and completions than the game itself.Top Xbox One Games Completed
Whilst Fable Anniversary
sees its completions fall from 320 to nearly 190 in first, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII
sees its grow from under 100 to almost 140 in second. The only other point of interest? The fact that two LEGO titles sit side by side for the second week running despite moving positions on the table from fourth and fifth to third and fourth.Top Xbox 360 Retail Games Completed
With the second episode of The Walking Dead: Season Two
being released to Live but not to the public when these Stats were produced, it disappears from the table, allowing easy sale title Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons
to claim the top spot with nearly 250 completions. Other easy sales titles also pop up, including Bastion
in fifth and SoulCalibur II HD Online
Almost 85 people have persevered long enough with the free-to-play grind of World of Tanks
to claim the completion in fourth. I commend you and your tanksmanship!Top Arcade Games Completed
Although it doesn't have a particularly low completion percentage, Shoot 1Up
doesn't quite make the cut. Instead, the table looks a lot like the previous week's, just with smaller numbers.Top Windows Phone Games CompletedAchievements Won
66,400 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 802,342 achievements online between them (50,742 different achievements).
It's a revolution as Civilization Revolution
takes all the spaces. All of these achievements relate to doing something for the first time in the title so can all easily picked up on the first game.Top Retail Achievements Won
Like the previous two weeks, Toy Soldiers
and World of Tanks
fight it out. Toy Soldiers
wins again, with the same seven achievements as last time, just in a slightly different order.Top Arcade Achievements WonFIFA
claims six spots, including the top three, whereas Shoot 1Up
takes fourth, sixth, seventh and ninth.Top Windows Phone Achievements Won
The lead given to Role-Playing by the likes of Fable Anniversary
, Lightning Returns
and Dead Island (Xbox 360)
evaporates here as the genre slips back down from second to third. It's not helped by Shooter getting a significant boost, almost doubling its numbers from 3.6 to 6 million in second, thanks to PvZ
.Total TrueAchievements won by Genre
That's all for this week's Stats. Tune in next week today
to find out what happened in the following week!
