Bungie's upcoming MMO, Destiny
, is going to have a multitude of weapons that your guardian will be able to wield. Perhaps not a bazillion like the Borderlands
series, but something to be proud of nonetheless. This vast and various collection of creations has been detailed a little more to excite gamers with even more anticipation.
The weapons will come in three broad categories: Primary (autorifles and hand cannons), Special (shotguns and sniper rifles), and Heavy (rockets and belt-fed machineguns). By no means does that mean the variety will be limited, though. Fire-spewing shotguns and head-melting fusion rifles will co-exist with your traditional pistols and rifles so both will meld together into a huge range of weapons. The autorifle sub-category, for example, includes burst-fire pulse rifles, single-shot carbines as well as full-auto assault rifles that are lethal at close range. Despite all of this, Bungie still has plans to hand-craft each weapon with a unique look, feel and its own lore so that they feel like natural extensions of Destiny
's fiction. Everything will have a purpose and not just be a computer generated object.
Any unwanted weapons that you accumulate will also prove useful as you will be given the chance to break them down into raw components that reinforce other weapons with special effects. These include “elemental” damage in the form of Arc, Thermal, or Void damage that can stack on top of the weapon's base damage for extra scars on an enemy.
Armour, on the other hand, is designed to fortify your guardian's defenses and augment your class stats. The armour designs of Destiny
all look strikingly different too, so you can be anything from a futuristic space marine to a neo-Roman. When taking a rest from merciless killing, you will be able to visit the Tower to show off your shiny new armour to others, or simply decode salvaged equipment and browse the shops.
A video that discusses these aspects of the game has also been released. Don't let the PS4 logo put you off!
To finish, another developer video has appeared as well. This one has the guys at Bungie talking co-op strikes and exploration.
will be making its worldwide debut on September 9th on Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
