DB: Raging Blast 2 to Include Exclusive Anime

Brand new 30-minute episode included with the game

Written by zigs00 on 11 August 10 at 10:57

Despite the show ending well over a decade ago, Dragon Ball still has a pretty sizeable fanbase, who will no doubt be pleased to hear that the upcoming Raging Blast 2 game will include a brand new episode of the anime series when it launches this Autumn/Fall.

The exclusive episode is entitled “Dragon Ball: Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans” and is a completely reconstructed, re-scripted and re-edited version of the original Japanese episode. According the the press release, it's completely unmissable for fans of the series, offering something totally unique. The episode is available for anyone who buys the game (so no region-exclusivity, and no single-use code for those who buy the game new), watchable straight out of the box, and unlocks a bonus in-game character just for viewing the episode in its entirety.

Quoted below is the press release from Namco Bandai, describing what the game will offer besides the new episode:

Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 features a host of improvements and new features with the development team at Spike Co. Ltd. pushing themselves harder than ever to deliver the most authentic and advanced experience. Everything from the camera to the controls has been reworked to create an accessible game with more than enough tactical depth to satisfy even the most battle-hardened Dragon Ball fan."

In Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 the story is told as the action unfolds, keeping the player locked into the world at every moment and bringing the experience closer than ever to the anime. The game features more than 90 of the most popular characters, over 20 of whom are new to the Raging Blast series. Environmental destruction now has an even more profound effect on the fights in the enhanced battle stages, which include a number of brand new ones.

Running at 60fps, Dragon Ball: Raging Blast 2 produces faster and smoother animations than ever, further enhanced by countless new stunning visual effects. With seven game modes, original Japanese voices, loads of unlockable treats, fully optimised 5.1 sound, ultra-realistic HD visuals, dazzling never-before-seen visual and camera effects, a new combo system, and the exclusive 30-minute Dragon Ball anime episode, the latest chapter in the irrepressible saga will be an essential treat for fans.
To see the game in action, watch the trailer below, originally released around E3:

And finally, like the teases they are, Namco also stated that if you visit their official website (http://www.namcobandaigames.eu) on August 18th, you'll be able to see a sneak preview of the anime.

So, we pay £40 for a game for only ONE episode, which will be posted on YouTube anyway....?

I hate the new graphic design. It was better on cell shading. This is just going back to the first Budokai game. They changed the style because it was better.

And having the first Raging Blast, I don´t know if I´ll pick this up. Probably RB3 will launch next year with this and even more.

Personally this game looks pretty unimpressive, even compared with the ps2 budokai series.

I really tried to get into the DBZ games back when they were on PS2. But at one point I was Krillin beating up Frieza and I realized that....it just didn't make sense.

How dare those jerks give me more for my money. I just want the game on the disc and nothing else. And seriously, when can DBZ come out with a fighting game centered around a monkey man from space that can fly and destroy planets that finally makes sense? ..................................... Did anyone else get really excited and thought it read burst limit 2 when they saw the picture? But I agree with DevilHunter the episode is most likely for fans of the series who were planning on buying it and it's like an added bonus to make up for poor quality..

uh actually this exact episode did not. The episode you referred to was redone digitally in picture and sound and they re-recorded the dialogue in a true translation from the japanese original.

But the episode is 15 years old. Not only that, but it's half an hour shorter than the original episode. And it's going to have those crappy Kai voice actors : /

I really hope the episode isn't as dumb as Yo! Return of Son Goku and Friends... The fact that they ret-con the show to make Vegeta have a brother who is married to a puddle of guacamole is just peculiar, but then they make an enemy who is part of the Ginyu Force fight Gotenks... So many bad ideas that it hurts my face to try and laugh...
Abocado, Gure Tarble...
Did you see that, Zach? Clear as a crisp spring morning. "F K"... In the coffee.

This is a rip off, this exclusive episode to my knowledge is at least 10 years old and adds nothing much to the series. its like naruto the lost episode but the naruto episode was better.
don't get me wrong i was (kind of still am) a DBZ fan. but it has had its time and been miked to death and should be laid to rest.

you guys think it would be possible to switch the game voices and music to japanese versions?
because let's be honest, the american OST and voices suck big time.
