Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris Details

Just last week at this year's E3, we brought you the news of not one, but two Lara Croft related games in development. The first, Rise of the Tomb Raider, follows in the footsteps of last year's hugely popular franchise reboot Tomb Raider, and was pretty much expected. However, the second announcement was a little more unexpected. A follow up to 2010's Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, which takes a different approach to Lara's raiding of tombs, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris will feature the same isometric action as its predecessor.

Along with the announcement, we brought you the game's first trailer and a few screens. Then, a few days later, we followed them up with an interview with Crystal Dynamics' Executive Producer. Today, more details of the game have been unveiled. Whereas the first game was best played in two-player co-op, this title has up to four-player support in order to solve some fiendish puzzles and take down some even more fiendish enemies in the iconic Egyptian setting. As well as the titular heroine, fellow raider Carter will join the party, along with Egyptian gods Horus and Isis. What's a good party without some Egyptian gods to bring the fun? Like the first game, the raider characters come equipped with grappling hooks to navigate gaps and ledges, whilst the god characters use powerful staffs that can be used for thwacking and thrown for makeshift ledges.

Of course, grappling hooks and exaggerated sticks don't do that well against creatures like giant scarab beatles, so there are a vast range of firearms that can lend that extra bit of kick. Platforming sections also make a return, as well as nefarious traps. Luckily, as long as one of the party remains alive, the rest can go running into danger like complete loonies because they'll respawn upon death (with a penalty to health and points, of course). There's always one guy left behind, holding the sack of swiped relics.

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is due later this year on Xbox One.
