TA Gaming Stats - July 7th to 13th 2014

By Chewie, 2 years ago
This report is for the period July 7th to July 13th 2014.

And here we are, finally, Part Three of this week's three-pronged stats attack thanks to an extended period of me being left for dead in a swamp relaxing in a mud bath and being away from things for a few weeks. Part One is here and Part Two is here.

Games Started
34,249 TrueAchievements gamers started a total of 63,459 games between them (2,235 different games).

After storming onto the chart with over 13,000 starters in its free release week as part of "Games with Gold", Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition (Xbox One) nose-dives to around 4,000 starters this week, although its still way more than anything else.

On sale this week, Titanfall (Xbox One) gets a boost in numbers from 400 to nearly 470 up to sixth place.

With hardly anything in the way of new releases recently, it was up to the Ultimate Game Sale to give us the goods this week, and boy did it deliver. Half of the titles on the table were on offer this week. Portal 2 was most popular with over 450 starters to claim first place. Jumping down into fourth is Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, followed closely by Dishonored and Fallout: New Vegas with between 320 and 370 starters. Finally, Dragon Age II rocks up at the bottom with 260 starters.

But wait! It's not over yet. With plenty of Arcade titles also on offer, we also get half the spots here claimed by sales titles. DuckTales Remastered (Arcade) was most popular in third with 650 starters, followed by Halo: Spartan Assault (iOS) with 640. In fifth, The Walking Dead: Season Two jumps up with almost 460 starters thanks to the "Season Pass" being offered. Finally, Bastion and Trials Evolution claim seventh and ninth with over 300 and 280 starters each.

Top Xbox 360 Arcade Games Started

For some reason Tetris Blitz (WP) jumps up the table into second with nearly 100 starters, up from seventh place the week before. I'm not 100% sure but it may be due to a recent update ironing out the known bugs, leading more people to start it with confidence. With the Arcade version on offer and the One version recently "Games with Gold" I guess it made sense to stick Halo: Spartan Assault (WP) on sale too. it jumps into fourth place with 80 starters.

Top Windows Phone Games Started

Although it's been around before with a soft release, Microsoft Jigsaw (Win 8) got a general release this week, boosting it from eighth to first place with over 500 starters. Like the WP version, Halo: Spartan Assault (Win 8) also lands onto the table with exactly the same amount of starters (probably thanks to the cross-platform freeness).

Top Windows 8 Games Started

Games Completed
9,514 TrueAchievements gamers completed a total of 13,272 games between them (1,330 different games).

The Guacamelee completions jump up the table from eighth to first with 580 TA'ers finishing it the week after release. Meanwhile, other recent easy titles like Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition, Valiant Hearts: The Great War (Xbox One) and Contrast (Xbox One) continue to do well in third, fourth and sixth.

Top Xbox One Games Completed

As more people who picked it up free complete it, Dark Souls manages to climb the table into first with 66 completions, a number that looks very like...*gulp*...666... On sale a couple of weeks before, enough people got round to finishing both LEGO Marvel Super Heroes and LEGO The Lord of the Rings at the same time to put them both on the table in fifth and sixth with over 50 completions.

Top Xbox 360 Retail Games Completed

With the final episode finally upon us, The Wolf Among Us bursts to the top of the table with over 2,300 completions. Following behind is TWD: Season Two, which also gets a boost thanks to the Season Pass sale, but of much smaller magnitude, taking 450 completions. Following behind that is the one that started it all as The Walking Dead also saw its share of discounts and gets 200 completions for it. It's like a little TellTale party up there.

Narco Terror and Child of Light are the only other sale titles to make it in eighth and ninth places, whilst people are still pegging away at Doritos Crash Course 2 before the servers close in October, putting it in tenth with 40 completions.

Top Xbox 360 Arcade Games Completed

Apart from the fairly inexplicable boost in Fruit Ninja (2013) (WP) completions, there's not much to see here.

Top Windows Phone Games Completed

The W8 table looks very familiar as none of the recent Microsoft releases have given out enough completions to make the table.

Top Windows 8 Games Completed

Achievements Won
78,917 TrueAchievements gamers won a total of 1,241,636 achievements online between them (59,592 different achievements).

It's Guacamelee's table again, but of course.

Top Xbox One Achievements Won

The sales give us a bit more of a mixed bag on the 360, with Dark Souls, Portal 2, Fallout: New Vegas, Assassin's Creed IV, Dishonored, Saint's Row The Third and Skyrim all making the table with their easiest achievements.

Top Xbox 360 Retail Achievements Won

Thanks to Wolf Among Us, the sales don't get a look-in on the Arcade, with "Cry Wolf" claiming the top seven spots, above Gotham City Imposters.

Top Xbox 360 Arcade Achievements Won

A single Tetris Blitz achievement manages to nestle into the normal Temple Run and Snap Attack domination.

Top Windows Phone Achievements Won

Last week was Jackpot and Sudoku and this week Jigsaw joins in, claiming six spots including the top four.

Top Windows 8 Achievements Won

After the big boost last week, Action-Adventure sees a slight dip from 15 million to 13 million but it still stays steady in first, especially as Shooter also drops a little in second. The rest of the table remains pretty stagnant with Adventure jumping into eighth with over 1.2 million thanks to Wolf Among Us being the most notable change.

And there we have it, three weeks of stats all splurted out at once. Congrats if you made it this far. Many Statisticles didn't. Next week should be business as usual and we'll see if the remainder of the Ultimate Games Sale made any impact and the releases of Magic: The Gathering - DotP 2015 and Abyss Odyssey .
