Head of Lionhead Games, Peter Molyneux, has announced that Pub Games, a pre-release to Fable II that allowed players to start collecting cash for their in-game character by playing gambling mini-games, has been replaced with something new.

Speaking to gaming site Joystiq, he refused to get into details about the project, but touched his mobile phone as he said, "It's more to do with this sort of thing." The designer had some decisive commentary on Pub Games, describing the Xbox Live game as a "disaster." This was after finding out that some gamers had started the game with millions in gold, Lionhead had tried to pull Fable 2 out of certification in order to make the word "cheat" float over their head of anyone that left Pub Games a little too rich. He concluded, "That's not going to f*cking happen in Fable 3!"

So expect not only a Kinect tie-in with Fable III, but also a mobile tie-in as well!
I will leave you all to draw your own conclusions!

Fable III is to be released on the 26th of October in North America and the 29th of October in Europe.

When can we get a Fable which doesn't cater to whining 12 year olds, where I can see lopped off limbs and hear bandits say things like "you shot me in the f*ckin' junk!"
Or where a 'rude' gesture involves groping peasants?
Unfortunately, whilst Walrus is tasty meat, it is not as plentiful as Cow.

MS seems to want to use fable as a flagship for all they're experiments; episodic downloads, kintic now looking like a game for windows phone 7

Money was pretty worthless in Fable II, really. Just used it to buy houses so you could... make more money.

Wasn't the fact that you could break Fable 2 before really playing it pretty much the only reason people bought Pub Games? >_>

Were the people who left Pub games too rich actually cheating or were they just good at gambling? He's complaining that people were playing too well and it ruined Fable II? Uh, did he expect everyone to leave Pub Games with 4 dollars and struggle with money? The money didn't have much meaning in Fable II anyway. I never struggled for money and I bought everything it allowed me to. I also never touched Pub Games.
And for the love of Pete, please don't have part of the game (pre-game) as a phone game. Cell phone games annoy me.

I HATE the phrase 'fixed it with DLC'.

Its almost as bad as M$ saying "Let's fix Vista with Windows 7"

So does this mean the new type of pub game or wateva will be tied to the mobile ONLY? Or eventually come to XBLA?

While I hate the idea of a cell phone tie-in, I am happy the Pub Games are not coming back.

I thought the Pub Games idea was great BEFORE I started playing it. But, it didn't take long to realize that the Pub Games were all too real. I LOST TONS OF MONEY. I don't know who these ppl are that "won millions" but they must of got lucky (just like in real life gambling). Besides, the only good pub game was Tower.
