Whilst the team over at Turn 10 Studios have been busy releasing new DLC
for their current racing title, Forza Motorsport 5
, we should not forget that they are currently working together with the team at Playground Games on the upcoming open-world racing game, Forza Horizon 2
As well as keeping the current open world format for the title, the teams have been striving to make this the most social racing game ever. A key design decision was to ensure that everyone felt connected even when they were not in multiplayer, and one of the ways in which this has been achieved is to display friends drivatars racing through the game world even when those players on not online themselves. The player will be able to challenge and take part in rivals events against the drivatars.
When players feel like joining a spot of multiplayer racing, they can seamlessly join the action without having to drop out of the game or join lobbies. The team aim to have you just jump in whenever you want, straight into the driving action.
Taking the social side of the game further, players will be able to create or join clubs which will be able to accommodate 1000 drivers, and they will be able to arrange online meet-ups where they can show-off and swap car designs and paint jobs. Players will also be able to participate in challenges and events, or simply arrange a road trip with friends to take in the various sights in the large open world.
With all these elements in place, it does appear that virtual driving may well become quite the social occasion.Forza Horizon 2
is due out on Xbox One and Xbox 360 on September 30th.
